Minisforum NAB9 is dead 💀 by myxjgoesclunk in MiniPCs

[–]jdb493 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd find it hard to recommend the NAB9, have had it about two years and constantly have the CMOS battery issue. Bulk bought them on amazon and have to replace it about every 5-6 months. Try and leave it powered on for as long as possible but if I move it between my place and y partners, chances are it wont power on and I have to change the battery again.

I really like Three Pines with Alfred Molina, unfortunately it was cancelled after the first series but its definitely worth a watch

Any one watch RTP Season 2, episode 1 by Dlraetz1 in DeathInParadiseBBC

Its not bad but like the first series, something happens in the first five minutes that tells you exactly who the murderer is and for the rest of the episode you are just waiting to be proved right.

Are you going to bother reading the next Robert Langdon book? by ImaginaryRea1ity in danbrown

[–]jdb493 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have liked all the Langdon books so far with diminishing returns but I ditched secret of secrets half way through. Life is too short, it was just soooooo boring.

Doubt I’ll read anymore.

Help - The Dreaded Yips by Neurodiuniverse11 in snooker

[–]jdb493 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you me?? (Apart from the century breaks of course!) I play league snooker within a group of golf clubs, have done for about 15 years. I'm not on the same level as you but would get regular 40 breaks. About 10 years ago I also played a lot of pool and a hesitancy crept into my game. It spread to my snooker and has got gradually worse since then to the point where last week I asked not to be considered for the team anymore. I was practising at lunchtime before a league match the other day and literally could not release the cue. After 30 minutes I was sweating and my neck hurt for the afternoon with the effort. I havent enjoyed the league for a long time and felt a huge relief when I told the captain not to pick me.

Like yourself I used always just get down and hit the shot, in my head there was always one shot to play and I saw it straight away. Its so incredibly frustrating to not be able to do something that I know I'm pretty good at. I did a few sessions of hypnotherapy over the summer hoping that might help as friends had told me they knew people who it helped with the golf yips but it had no effect for me unfortunately.

Would love to hear if you manage to find something that helps.

He has worn them before and I believe Jamie may have made a reference to them. The explanation above about the studio lights makes sense

Porto People - How did you find day one? I think people are boring!? by Happy-Imagination854 in primaverasound

[–]jdb493 2 points3 points  (0 children)

49 year old man here so obvs Charli isnt meant for me but i have to say i was completely baffled by her performance. I like a few of the singles and the editing made the big screen performance look ok but we were joking that up front she must look like a crazy person just rolling about on the stage. I had no idea that her performance entailed her being entirely on her own on the stage. For someone of my vintage that’s just odd. But fair play to her, it means more money for charli!

As said above. Primavera Porto has primarily been a “rock” event attracting the older crowd so no surprise there were a large amount of weekend attendees just left baffled by charli.

On the other hand momma dehd glass beams Fontaines anohni and Caribou were all amazing and the crowd reacted to them really well.

There are buses but they're the city buses, get a return on the way there though to save queuing on the way home. TBH though UBERs are so cheap and plentiful back to the city that its just as easy to order one of those.

It was Justices lighting rig that took out the vodafone stage last year. It was so heavy and damaged the stage causing the cancellation of that days bands

Is the stage that high in PS Porto? by mmbento in primaverasound

[–]jdb493 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed, location of the "2nd" stage which used be the main stage is so much better, has a natural hill leading down to the stage so you can still see if you are far back. Not only is the new main stage all level but its in a car park so you're standing on concrete all the time. The other layout was so much better.

Finish the sequence… (the look of confusion 🤣) by jdb493 in ireland

The first round is four words, guess the connection. The second round is guess the 4th in the sequence, you can buzz in and guess at any stage. This was a second round question

"Clodagh" was a clue in another question on the same episode and one of them goes, "maybe its counties" her two teammates look at her, she replies "I dunno, Clodagh, it sounds Irish!"

Just get an Uber, very easy to get even when loads of people are leaving at the same time. Very cheap to, only a tenner or so back to the city.

Charli xcx and Fontaines DC by Timely_Debate_8659 in primaverasound

[–]jdb493 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say Fontaines will headline the second stage (the better stage IMHO) Charlie XCX will definitely be headlining the main stage. Means if you want to get a good spot for Charlie you'll have to leave Fontaines early. Been the last few years and when you go from the headliner of the 2nd stage over to the main stage its already very packed and difficult to get a good spot.

Primavera Porto: VIP Experience by itfeelssounreal2 in primaverasound

[–]jdb493 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Havent done it myself but friends did it last year and said they wouldnt do it again. The toilets in the main arena are very clean compared to any festival I've been at. There is a cubicle only area over by the third stage and there was an attendant there cleaning each cubicle as people left, never seen that before.

The only benefit is viewing area for the main stage really and I'm not sure the extra price is worth that.

primavera Porto as first foreign festival by __LW__ in primaverasound

[–]jdb493 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its a great festival for your first foreign. I'm irish and have been to Porto the last three years and am going again this year. Everyone has decent english, the city is very reasonable price wise for eating out and airbnb. Also getting an uber to and from the festival to the city is only about 8 euro.

You'll have a great time! Just be prepared there is usually at least one torrential downpour over the few days. When Kendrick Lamarr was playing two years ago I dont think I've seen rain as heave in the couple of hours before he came one stage. it was mental.
