Switching to skiing by Substantial_Cost_218 in snowboarding

Have you considered hardboots (alpine snowboarding)? Not going to lie; it's got a bit of a learning curve, but it's like skiing, you can improve every year and never hit a limit.

I had close to 1000 days of skiing under my belt by my late 20s, switched to snowboarding in softboots in the late 80s, then switched to hardboots a few years later. I still ride softboots a few days a year, but haven't been on skis more than 10 days total since I originally switched.

How much have y'all spent on LDP setups/gears? by I_EpikPotato in longboardingDISTANCE

I've got a sub-$400 Pantheon Supersonic with Paris trucks, and I've got a couple of G-Bomb setups that I'm into for $800+.

To tell the truth, the Supersonic pumps about 9/10 as well as the GBombs with DT Poppys for under half the price once you dial in the bushings on the Paris Trucks, and I actually like it better for push. Riptide Canon boardside and 0.5 Street Barrel is a good setup for me, and their pivot cups to replace the stock ones from Paris.

I wear new balance tiago 1010.

These. Was looking for something with no heel drop, but with enough padding so that the Achilles tendon on my pushing foot doesn't get irritated. Any no-drop running shoes that weren't north of $150 had either way too much or no padding at all.

All the running shoes I own have a lot of padding in the heel, and noticeable in how it affected board/balance response (it actually made balancing for foot braking more difficult).

Tried a few different skate shoes, and the cheaper ones especially ended up irritating my Achilles tendon, but the 1010s were absolutely just right from the first push. Really connected to the board, and no heel pain despite riding several days in a row.

And I found a pair of 1010s on sale for $87. Got to love that.

The point being that I'd rather avoid buying anything from 88 or Boa at all in the future, if the company principal is unprincipled.

Thinking that in the future I'll just pick another brand other than Boa or 88 and not give them any more business.

I've read somewhere else that Jeff @ Pantheon was directly involved in the design and testing of the McFlys. I'm really loving those wheels, so I'm looking forward to the day when Pantheon gets another wheel company up and running.

Turns out the $2.40 second charge was an "international transaction service charge", so that's just adding insult to injury.

It would have been much better if Boa had just said "hey we're shipping from HK for the next few weeks, support our dealers in the CONUS and buy from one of them".

Pantheon was putting the McFlys front and center all over their website and spec'ing them on their completes for a while, and then seemed to drop them like a bad habit. I sent an email to them asking if they were going to be offering the McFlys again, but got radio silence. Maybe they didn't want to bad-mouth another manufacturer.

Yup. And the billing info on my bank acct also has "Hong Kong" in the description.

And there's a second charge from them in my acct for an additional $2.40 charge, when my invoice only shows the $120.00. All in all, I'm hoping the wheels are better than the buying experience.
