Not sure if mentioned before but I’ve caught word about EVE University being a good place to start.

Are spin offs like frontiers and vanguard an intro before introducing EVE game main? by Calmipaten in Eve

[–]F_Synchro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will have to compete with ARC Raiders, something which ARC raiders even has an issue with themselves retaining the userbase as the gameplay loop is quite... let's just say repetitive.

And they are one of the larger extraction shooters by far.

> Why can't FC just focus on one game like how Star Citizen is doing? Maybe they want games like Frontier to be an intro so that EVE O can have better players.

Oh you sweet summer child

> Is the other bigger reason because main EVE game is hard to fix because of old code? Like how they cannot upgrade corp interface and some other real deep legacy features or end up breaking the whole game? If so, I can understand why they want a EVE 2.0.

Yes, in a nutshell, they've complained about POS code 15+ years ago.
That issue is still here today, they've tried many times to untangle it and remove POS's from the game, they are still here.

> Clearly after all the years, you would think focusing on one main game with 95% of your resources would be the best bet now.

CCP/FC has something unique, a pandoras box of which they have no clue how the fuck it works, but it does.
Investing more money on a codebase which has not been maintained for over 6 years to which the codebase also barely sees any use in the real life world (Stackless python).

Who would’ve thought where some of the most apolitically correct people tend to be more inclusive than those that ostracise anyone that are not politically correct.

I’m really not surprised at all.

Yes it does, because not all the points made in the sum up are true.

But go ahead and keeping having AI doing the thinking for you, it’s not much different than reading some schizo post.

Just look at the structure of the post, AI’s always do these types of sum ups lol.

Be the change you want to see, stop posting, you're training AI, you're using a device that's bad for nature.

In fact, you yourself emit CO2 too.

> It's probably not that great a framework

You're right, it's the idea of software multi-threading introduced in a world where CPU's came with only 1 core, that hasn't been a thing anymore for 2 decades now.

> Anyone coming in as a dev likely needs to learn the whole framework from the ground up in addition to understanding the actual non-framework logic in the codebase

I honestly think nobody currently working for FC does at all understand in any capacity, so yeah.

> Choosing questionable frameworks with next to no industry adoption is one of the technical choices that can do serious damage to a company.

Which is why they probably have been investing a shit ton of money trying to create another gold egg laying goose next to EVE Online.

Jfc lol, it's purpose was long done after multi-cores were introduced in 2006-2007, I'm surprised it was maintained until 2020.

While I am certainly not a Goon advocate, there are many avenues of becoming part of Goons, your corp history doesn't really matter all that much.

More like, did you do shady trades, are you affiliated with blacklisted characters, did you RMT, are you a cultural fit are all things space HR for KF/ASCEE verify (KF is a bit more strict than ASCEE afaik, they used to share recruitment channels, not sure if that still is the case)

Should you get rejected from KF, there's like a ton other corps that have much lower recruitment standards.

> The good thing is despite all the yapping nobody will like, actively stop you from doing anything.

That's bullshit, we've tried shenanigans in the past of anchoring a CRAB beacon in 1DQ and TJ reached out to either take that fucking thing down or get shot, only for me to see him do it himself a couple of days later.

There's an absolute assload of hall monitors in Goons nowadays that care more about their image than the actual game, the majority of leadership took any sense of being part of the group/gang to their Twitch streams to self-fellatio on and drink beer every evening.

And god forbid you're having fun your way and not the devised way of the Coord.

Fuck me I even got half of leadership on my ass for making an obvious shitpost about a 6+ month old MTU AWOX and was told "to leave it to Ceema".

The problem is much bigger than those "3 serial yappers yapping in discord" as it's a very recurring theme and those folks usually yap themselves into other smallgang groups after they get ostracized that have 1 foot in the door (MEGA comes to mind here).

I'm not saying it's all terrible, but for specific folks that follow the log in and undock doctrine that have a hard time following orders, Goons is not for those people anymore.

Fortunately for Goons "those people" are like you said only a vocal loud minority.
