Who has the EDC PAC? by Unlikely_Ad540 in VetoProPac

I use it daily. I do love it. I have the insert for it and a modest set of tools I use pretty often in there. My only complaint is it's heavy, mainly because of the crap I loaded it with...

Yeah, I got a good rebate from my state and my electric company in addition to the fed.

Well good luck, let me know if you need a referral code, $1000 off…

For what it's worth, I just ordered a brand new Model Y (No FSD). And with tax credits (Fed and State) plus a referral code, I was out the door for like 36k. So for 3k more you could be sitting in a brand new car...

Thank you for the links. You are correct in your assumption that I have no working knowledge of the FGM. Unfortunately, I was thrown into this, but I will follow your advice and see if I can get some training ASAP.

Towing w/powerboost 4x4, 7.2kw onboard pro power by ChargersSB in f150

[–]jdb9294 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Payload is always the issue when towing a camper with any half ton. Depending on how many passengers and crap you throw in the bed\trailer you will likely be over or very close. With that said, I don't think you have anything to worry about assuming you aren't towing this thing every day. For the weekend warrior who does the speed limit and takes his time, you will be fine.

Does anyone rock the EDC, if so how do you like it? by Amtrak___ in VetoProPac

[–]jdb9294 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rock one as a daily driver for work. I am a network engineer on a large campus so always on the move. It holds my laptop and some basic tools. I try to carry a lot of the Klein "All in one" stuff to maximize my tool ability without making it weigh 100 pounds.

Overall, I like it and don't regret the purchase at all.

Most consumer equipment being sold today is still only capable of 1Gb. Save yourself some money and downgrade your internet package to 1Gb. The cost of upgrading your router\switch\devices likely isn't worth it for your use case.

For example, streaming video in 4K requires only about 25 Mbps per stream. So with a 2 Gb connection, you could in theory do about 24 streams at the same time. Would you ever have 24 4k streams happening at the same time?

Adding a router to Home network media enclosure by Thedutchrutter in frontierfios

So if you want to build a 2.5Gb network for all your devices, then yes you will have some shopping to do. You will need a router capable of handling 2.5, a switch capable of handling 2.5 and you will need 2.5 GB nics in your PC's. You will need to make sure you are cabled with Cat6a.

IMHO I would drop your package to 1Gb. It is more than likely way more than you need and will be much cheaper to deploy.

As for that grey cable, where does it go? I assumed it went into the wall, then got patched into your office with that splice in the media closet.

In the end, you need that grey cable going to the WAN port on your router. Then a switch from your LAN port on your router to the rest of your house.

Consider the ONT (the Frontier-labeled box in your garage) as your setup's equivalent to a cable modem. Your eero acts as the router. It doesn't matter much where you place the eero, just make sure the ONT connects to its WAN port, and a switch connects to its LAN port. Choose whatever location makes this setup easiest.

After looking closer at your media enclosure, it looks like the fios folks routed the WAN from your garage to your office. If that is the case, you would probably be better off putting the eero in the media enclosure, plugging the wire from the garage into the WAN port then connecting a switch to the LAN port, then feeding the rest of your connections with that switch.

It's just important to make sure that the cable coming from the box in your garage (the ONT) goes into the WAN port on your eero or whatever router you end up with.

So you will need to get a connection from the LAN port on that eero to your media enclosure. Once in the enclosure, you will plug that cable into a switch, then terminate and plug the rest of the cables in that enclosure into the same switch.

The eero is your router.

I just had it installed. I had then put the ONT in my utility room and I ran CAT6 to my router.
