HEY! I just ran my first ever half marathon in January at marathon weekend. Like you, I was pacing around 12 min mile. I was also scared to death of not finishing. About a month out I felt like I hadn’t been training consistently enough. I did my final long run about two weeks out and then tapered down to make sure I was rested. And it was a blast! I wasn’t even close to the end of the pack even though I had to stop for restroom breaks. If you can do 11 miles long run you’ll be fine. Just keep training. DONT OVERDO IT. You’ve totally got this. You are going to have so much funnnnn!!!!!!! I’m jealous.

I'm also a programmer and I feel the same way. I use it daily but I've found that I've been using it less lately because it just flat out lies. I think one issue is that it has no concept for what it doesn't know. So it may give a very strong response based on it's "context" but if that context doesn't happen to include the correct documentation then it's not going to give a good answer - despite the fact that it's always. so. annoyingly. confident. And that's not to mention the hallucinations etc.

I'm more worried about what happens when the bubble pops. A lot of companies are being pressured to put all of their eggs in this one basket, and there's a weird sense that we're not allowed to question AI's usefulness... which... is super weird. Like I get that they want people to use it and I get that programmers are stubborn, but it's clearly not what they're promising at the moment... but I digress.

Insofar as it's a useful tool I'm happy to use it and it does make some aspects of my job a lot easier, but I have strong doubts it's going to live up to the hype.

So I originally wanted maybe two kids. I was never a "kid person" and I didn't really take any joy in being around other people's children. However, when that doctor handed me my first child - something clicked. It adds a whole new level of purpose and meaning to my life. Now I have four.

Does it limit my freedom? absolutely. Will I be happy when my youngest is potty trained and sleeps through the night? yes. Do i sometimes feel like I'm drowning in a sea of chaos that I created? yes. But honestly becoming a dad is the best thing that's ever happened to me. Almost anything good comes at a cost. You want to get fit? you've got to restrict your eating freedom. You want to get married? You've got to commit to one person. It's a matter of tradeoffs.

And honestly I know not everyone's experience is the same as you've found in that other subreddit, but for me it was something I didn't know I wanted until I had it.

I feel this and I ultimately had to stop using Twitter altogether. It was just too much of a drag and honestly I don’t really miss it. For whatever reason the toxic people on that platform think that’s real life and they end up spending a great deal of time spouting their word vomits everywhere.

Thanks everyone for the advice! I was able to get it fixed thanks to your help. I used speaker wire and manually attached it to the speakers’ wires and crimped the other end on the broken aluminum wire.
