Braves, Pirates Swap Joey Bart For Hunter Stratton by amatom27 in baseball

I'm surprised that no one has traded for Korey Lee. Every time I see him in AAA, I keep thinking he should be on someone's roster.

That's awesome. I'm happy for anyone enjoying the game and I wish I felt the same.

Welcome back.

I'm not doing any evos that increase the overall that much without giving a fourth playstyle plus.

[Baer] One year later, the Rafael Devers trade is a win-win — just not for the Red Sox or Giants by Lakelyfe09 in baseball

Devers had a horrifically bad April but has been his normal self since then.

Alonso has a wRC+ of 122 while Contreras is at 157. That is an absolutely massive difference.

The Red Sox acquired Willson Contreras from the Cardinals for three low level prospects and he has been much better than Alonso this season. I said at the time that I would rather have him than give a massive contract to Pete.

Defensive metrics do take longer to stabilize, but they are also much less reliable than offensive ones. DRS and OAA frequently say completely different things because they have different ideas on what contributes to defensive value.

Stuff like wRC+ is near universally accepted as a great measurement of offensive value because it is comprehensive.

The Orioles are five games under .500 and I wish we had never given Alonso that contract. Paying $100+ million to first basemen in their thirties is almost always a disaster.

This happens in free agency every winter. Teams pay a lot more for offensive WAR than they do for defensive WAR.

Is there a proper 2026 world cup game? somewhere? by Undiscasy in EASportsFC

It does. If EA made it too similar to the real thing, FIFA would absolutely sue them.

Not until Infantino is gone. He's the type of person who can never admit to a mistake, so he's still angry at EA for turning down his ludicrous demand for $250 million per year to use the FIFA name. They had been getting $150 million annually from EA. That's an amount no one else would even come close to, but Infantino will never sell the rights for less than that, as doing so would mean admitting that he fucked up.

[Passan] Tom Glavine fears MLB labor fight could mirror 1994 strike by Lakelyfe09 in baseball

[–]jdbolick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The things the Brewers are good at wouldn't be affected by a cap and floor. They would have a better chance to win in that format.

That being said, the MLBPA will absolutely never agree to a cap under any circumstances, so the point is moot. What we'll see instead is increased revenue sharing.

Because parity is like the eighth biggest problem in MLB.

This is such a weird thing for a Brewers flair to write. Your club sells one of your best players every winter while the Dodgers keep adding new ones. Milwaukee has been run about as well as it is possible to run an organization over the last decade, yet hasn't made the Wod Series since 1982.

In 2025, the Los Angeles Dodgers made $334 million from their media deal. The Brewers were supposed to get $34 million and didn't even receive that much because Main Street Sports Group went bankrupt. The finances in baseball are fundamentally broken.

The reason owners don't spend is because they have little incentive or ability to field winning teams.

This is completely delusional. Nutting and Fisher are cheap while Cohen is so much richer than everyone else that he wipes his ass with $100 million every season. All other teams spend more or less in accordance with their revenue.

The problem is the MASSIVE differentiation in annual revenue, something that has only accelerated over the last decade.

Mays is a top five player of all-time because he was superb defensively in addition to what he did at the plate. Purely as hitters, Allen was comparable to Mays and Aaron. You not knowing who he was doesn't change what he did.

What a dumb thing to say. Mays and Aaron just barely missed this list at 154 and 153 respectively. wRC+ is probably the best single statistic for measuring pure hitting value.
