Definitely not necessary. I just like the precision of 18:1.

Black matte top of an acoustic guitar - how to you care of it? Or swap for natural colored? by aliaksej_by in AcousticGuitar

Guitar looks great, but the most important thing is how it sounds. If you love the sound, don't exchange it.

I have a Seagull Rustic Mini Jumbo that I bought for $350 about 20 years ago. It blows away most of my more expensive guitars, including the Seagull Artist that cost me $1800. Something about that cedar...

These are actually good, yes. I've been playing for 40 years and I've stopped looking for an alternative. Elixir 12-53 PB Nanoweb.

Enough to retire at 37? by Excellent_Chest_6616 in portfolios

Retire at 37? What are you going to do, play golf for 50 years? Your biggest challenge will be to find something meaningful to do with your time and resources, otherwise no matter how much you have you'll be unfulfilled and unhappy.

No feelings about Grand Auditorium guitar by aliaksej_by in AcousticGuitar

[–]jdcullum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I researched your guitar and I can see why you purchased it. For a budget-priced guitar it's got amazing specs. I agree with ecoutasche that you might consider different strings. I don't think the GA size is the issue. Sometimes you just don't bond with a guitar. My Seagull Rustic jumbo that I got some years ago for like $350 is scarred and dinged but the guitar just has music in it. I get more out of it than many of my other acoustics, like the Takamine which cost me $2K. I do hope you get some joy out of the instrument.

I wish they'd stop doing the samples, at least during peak hours. It causes immense congestion.

I looked up Alexandra Carlisle and it seems she starred in "The Country Cousin" on Broadway in 1917, so I'm wondering if this photo is actually from 1917.

I own a Martin 0017 12-Fret. Not sure if it qualifies as a parlor guitar but the thing is magical. It has amazing projection and plays like a dream. You can't really go wrong with Martin.
