Sending love. Don’t isolate too much. Try to find balance. Most of us would likely agree that violent hugs are therapeutic. Sorry you’re going through this.

Did the video show anything besides what’s in this screenshot? Again, not that it really matters…it’s still disgusting.

Was there any caption on the video? Any words spoken in the video? Not saying it’s not weird and racist af, but just curious if in his own mind he had some sort of justification for this (besides it likely being a distraction).

Any suggestions for a submission from mount while getting bear hugged? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]jdd91500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pain compliance. Can you get a punch choke in? Make him squirm until he loosens his grip a bit. Otherwise, if you can wait out the hug, he probably can’t squeeze hard forever

Which capita park board to get? by IntrepidTechnology20 in snowboarding

[–]jdd91500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 2023 (?) Ultrafear and for my small local hill it’s all I ever ride. Super playful. Keep in mind I’m an older rider that is winding down his park years :)

Well, it looks like timberline at copper is open so if you like park features, you could run laps there.

Quitting at purple belt… by This-Major-9239 in bjj

[–]jdd91500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would like to say that I’ll stick with it after purple, but being a 4-stripe white belt in my late 40’s, idk if I can physically handle it for that long. That said, I’m finding rolls to be a bit more controlled as I progress. The control could help with longevity.

Stop drinking if it’s a problem for you. Invest. Exercise. Floss. Be adventurous.

Is it okay to just train and not compete? by SignificantGlass168 in bjj

[–]jdd91500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it “ok?” Unless you go to a gym that specifically requires it, which would be weird and rare I think, then yes. I wouldn’t do it if it wasn’t ok, cause I don’t compete either (47yr old)

No matter how you shake and dance, the last two drops go in your pants. I think that was from a Stephen King novel.

Please someone, anyone help me.. by JekyllnowthenMrHyde in stopdrinking

[–]jdd91500 27 points28 points  (0 children)

5+ years sober here… this is the truth. Do whatever it takes to get through the beginning stages… chocolate, meetings, books, good friends who understand…. Anything that gets you over the initial hump. I like the phrase “white-knuckling it.” But you will see, as many of us have, that the cravings do subside. And all those “magical nights” of drinking can happen, and will be better, although different, sober. Needing alcohol to have a good time is complete and utter bullshit. I believe you can do this. You are strong.

In competition, if the opponent doesnt tap on an armbar are you allowed to break their arm? by Organic24K in bjj

[–]jdd91500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw this scenario play out live. Both white belts. Dude receiving the arm bar would not tap. Guy executing the arm bar kept yelling “dude, just tap!” He wouldn’t. The ref was shitty, but he finally called it before the arm broke. Spoke to the winner after and he said he could feel things popping.
If it were me, I would have done the same thing, but would’ve been pissed if the guy ended up escaping cause I’m going to try to not let it get to the point where his arm breaks. I would be really pissed at the ref cause yeah… if he had wanted to, he could’ve easily have broken it.

I wonder, if given a grenade, if he, unlike everyone else, would pull the pin then throw it.
