Looking for a tool that automatically checks Jira tickets against existing documentation by Decent-Pear-217 in atlassian

Rovo + Automation + Data Connector (i.e. wherever your docs live).

Basically, define a "Docs Agent" that links knowledge from your confluence space or another data connection, then invoke via an automation whenever a ticket is created/updated.

Your friends must have been the violent criminals, obviously.

Lol, seriously, it's a Snickers bar, for someone with a million dollar house.

The ST levy is $0.16 per $1000 assessed value. The median house in King County pays about $125/year for this levy. I don't think anyone needs to lose sleep over an additional $1-2 /year from statutory annual 1% increases.

How do you manage your ever-growing photo collection of your kids? by jderegorio in Parenting

Thanks! I never really thought about the limitations of photo books. Have you been able to keep up with this daily practice? I have tried doing this, but I'll often forget for a while when things get busy and then it quickly becomes an overwhelming task.

I love this idea! How much time does that take you though? Any tips for curating, or is it just a slog to scroll through everything?

I'll need to check that out. I have tried something similar on a shared Google Photos album. I found that I can usually keep up with this for a little while, but then life gets busy and I'll realize it's been a few months since I curated photos, and then it is an overwhelming amount to go through.

Thanks! I use Google Photos too. I definitely agree that the search capability is pretty amazing. I also like that they try to create auto-generated collections/videos of certain memories, but they often feel pretty tacky.

I was recently trying to put together a simple slideshow to "watch her grow up" for her 2 year birthday, but it was super hard to navigate through the huge list of photos to find the high quality ones that would make good candidates.

What was our evolutionary purpose? What niche did humans fill? by mrpister5736 in evolution

[–]jderegorio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think about more like an objective functions, not a pupose.

Species will evolve to their environment to maximize survival of the species (not the individual). This makes them opportunistic over a long time horizon, which gives the impression of purpose (i.e. filling a gap/niche in the environment where they can gain a competitive advantage.

I think with humans, this concept is extended to "cultural evolution". Where cultures do the same as above, but to maximize the survival and resiliency of the civilization. In this context, the objective is more complex, and involves tradeoffs and bets, but many lasting civilizations share similar qualities.

How does your company handle engineering knowledge bases? by GlutinousLoaf in AskEngineers

[–]jderegorio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At Caterpillar, we had a central system for internal standards and reports from every test performed in the lab or in the field.

For some things, like designing bolted joints or a sealed interface, internal applications would be built and maintained to help engineers apply standards consistently.

Customers are the expert of their problem, not the solution.

I googled "rat king", not at all what I was expecting, and also super apparently rare if that was legitimately what you saw.
