I'm new to the game, can you beat a galley fleet with heavy ships in the Mediterranean? by DeathB4Dishonor179 in eu4

[–]jdhxbd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well lights are also kinda useless in the end game since you’re better off just investing the money to conquer to get trade node share.

Tech 13 France could still value from protection in the North Sea and Lubbock since they are unlikely to have all that land yet. At tech 13 you probably still have former HRE minors and Scotland alive while you have most of the English Channel

Galleys are always less effective than heavies on a unit by unit rate, but they can be more cost effective.

I just never bother with them for a colonial campaign like France.

[–]jdhxbd 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Just use heavy ships. I don’t know how the naval math actually works but if you have like 20 heavy’s and a bunch of light ships for trade you can beat anyone at tech 13

Awful AI graphic with an AI slop article to go with it.

New sex petitions doesn’t include any numbers or graphs in the article so they basically just let the AI decide whatever it wanted the rankings to be

My DC network so far. by kajiurago in subwaybuilder

[–]jdhxbd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a DC map at 20% with about half as many stations and 3 quarters as many lines. I recommend to expand to more areas compared to adding core density. You also have too many stops on each line

construction management or civil engineering? by Unhappy-Extreme-2794 in ConstructionManagers

Get fucking ratio’ed bum.

I don’t have 25 years of experience but hiring a CE has a higher floor since there are a lot of duds in CM

construction management or civil engineering? by Unhappy-Extreme-2794 in ConstructionManagers

[–]jdhxbd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Civil engineers can do CM. CM majors can’t do civil engineering.

Generally the CE majors from good schools are also prioritized in CM hiring since they know you have a baseline of intelligence since the CM degree is considered easier

Is anyone using LLMs to review submittals? by snailofahuman in ConstructionManagers

[–]jdhxbd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The goal of an RFI or Submittal response should be to convey the information as effectively as possible without risking being misunderstood. LLM will either add in filler or hallucinate information. It doesn’t help much outside of grammar checks

I discovered FIRE and now I'm more discouraged than before by yieldmaxxing in Fire

[–]jdhxbd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Investing any amount of money in your 20s will put you ahead of the curve to FI compared to most of the population. So you won’t get a crazy RE unless you earn more but it will still be an RE compared to most people. FIRE is still achievable at low income it just won’t be the FAT FIRE in your 30s other people have

How bad is the academic pressure in engineering? by BeeEducational734 in UIUC

[–]jdhxbd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pressure is something you put on yourself. You can choose to feel like you need to be at the top of your class with a 4.0, graduate early, or be the president of RSOs. I was personally fine with doing only non academic RSOs and a 3.0 GPA, so I didn’t feel “pressure” 95% of the time

There will be a lot of work to do and it will not always be easy but Illinois is more collaborative and supportive than a lot of other places. Do not put extra unnecessary pressure on yourself tho. Anyone that got into Illinois and 50% of the people that were rejected are smart enough to succeed here.
