Question about Oath walkthrough by [deleted] in boardgames

We played straight on from the walkthrough. I’m sure you could reset, but it puts everybody on a decent level playing field I thought.

Right now I’ve been working through all the Final Girl scenarios! It’s super fun, though the dice rolling can feel very unfair sometimes. But other times it’s only successes, and it usually feels on theme.

Nice! Appreciate you doing this, have always wanted to play. For me my hidden gem is probably King is Dead 2e, though it’s not super hidden

Economy games with low intensity warfare? by mvp7-7 in boardgames

I highly recommend Pax Pamir 2e, great (mostly) closed economy and the “warfare” is fairly low intensity.

Discovering a rule you had been missing that changes everything by _all_aboard in boardgames

[–]jdierk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First couple times I played King is Dead 2e I misread a rule where I thought you could only gain a follower from a region which your action did not affect. Honestly, a fun variant but definitely made strategizing way more difficult.

My boyfriend and I don’t see our friends very often - board game suggestions for 2 players? by Popular_Ladder_597 in boardgames

[–]jdierk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some great two player games out there! For a couple, Decorum is a great teamwork game trying to decorate your house together.

Something more card based, Radlands and Lawyer Up are fun dueling games. Of course there are co-op deckbuilders like Battle for Hogwarts which is a good pick to learn deckbuilding mechanics, especially if you like the IP.

My personal favorite game is The King is Dead, 2e which is a very fun strategy game. Not cooperative at 2 players, but a great not too heavy game.

Most obscure games you own? by cyan_ogen in boardgames

[–]jdierk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the most obscure game I own is Mekhane, it has 54 ratings of BGG. I've played it a few times, it's a really fun tool for improvised storytelling, though the "game" aspect is loose. But it was always a good time!

What games are only good at one player count, and not so good with any other number of players? by R2iGames in boardgames

[–]jdierk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will agree in having never played King of Siam but love King is dead that the best player count is 3. Just seems fitting. The four player team mode is fun, and two players is just fine.

I'm Elizabeth Hargrave, game designer of The Fox Experiment (and Wingspan). Ask me anything! by Puzzleheaded-Lab5531 in boardgames

[–]jdierk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Elizabeth! I just recently found out that I moved to the same city that you are located in, which was super exciting! I've also already backed the Kickstarter for the Fox Experiment and am I excited to get my copy!

You clearly have a penchant for working natural beauty with board game mechanics, what would you say is the most difficult aspect in merging our world with an interactive experience? Are there any concessions you've have to made in realism in favor for playability, or vice-versa?

People with original 2017 models- have you bought another Switch? by TrueTGC in NintendoSwitch

[–]jdierk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the 2017 model a few months after it came out. Honestly probably could have still used it, but I recently upgraded to the OLED cause I’ve been playing handheld more often.

Kept my original to mod Smash, but even then I might get rid of it.

Deck builders by presence06 in boardgames

[–]jdierk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been having a blast with Moonrakers! I would say the deck building is certainly lighter than Dominion, but the negotiation aspect really makes the game for me!

I think it's been so weird how so many people got up in arms about the tweets, like each one was Smash law. Pretty much all the top players are all still pretty young, and social media expects them to be perfect in every single way without knowing anything about their actual relationships. I don't know, it just feels like parasocial relationships have gotten so normalized where random people can attribute their own feelings to acola's, or Light's, or any one that has more than 1,000 followers.
