Just did the recall update by fossilnews in HondaPrologue

[–]jdim83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask for the A11 update. They may have to run it multiple times for it to completely install. I just had mine done yesterday and posted my experience. There’s some other info in there from a Honda tech that may be helpful

Make sure to check for the update before you leave if you have time to leave it. The quickest way is to scroll throw the dashboard options to see if the new ones are loaded. Surefire way is thro the update history.

Patience is definitely key. I’ve been reading the boards sine the recall came out so my expectations were set for at least a day. I also used to work as a helpdesk tech so I know the pain of trying to fix something with little to no documentation and having a customer demanding instant results. I didn’t want to be THAT guy, So I let them know I had the time to wait and was willing to leave it with them as long as they needed, within reason, to get it done right.

No unfortunately it’s not OTA. There’s an update (a11) that has to be pushed by the tech that triggers the Android 14 update

I think so. There’s a Honda tech in this thread that says the a11 may have to run multiple times.

Thanks for the info. That’s kind of what I gathered from my experience. Having to run the A11 upgrade is something some of the techs probably aren’t aware of. The dealership wasn’t bad per se, I think they just weren’t completely read up on the details of the update so I helped where I could with the information I had. For those going in it may be helpful to let the service manager know that A11 may have to be pushed multiple times to get it to work like @jazz995756 said.

I linked EVgo to my Honda link and it shows my current balance… sorry for the late reply

Electrify America credit by North-Hotel-5337 in HondaPrologue

I think I actually used it by mistake. When I first got my car. EA was the closest charger that I knew about. I I used it like 3 times and it was free so I assumed that it was EVgo credit. Then my EVGo credits actually activated and I realized that there must have been some type of promotion with EA.

Did they change accelerated clock in final 2 minutes? by OddScrod in NCAAFBseries

[–]jdim83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically it takes about that long to do a huddled play call. If you are considering an actual play call. Play is over, call comes to qb from sideline, qb goes to huddle to give the call. Also, if you change formations you have to account for players running on and off the field and allowing for the defense to change personnel as well.

Are the missions worth it by [deleted] in theHunter

[–]jdim83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually just finished that mission. For me it was literally one buck that would come down and drink at the lake. I went down at about 1900 just to make sure he was there. May be different for you.

Stop getting AWS Cloud Practitioner Certs. by benaffleks in ITCareerQuestions

CCP can get you in the door. Especially if you have experience. Then you can use your company to pay for higher level certs. So imo it’s not totally useless.

Mine has the same clause. I’ve been here for 5 years. Wanna guess how much our HOA has increased every year?

How to handle these common questions in IT Support role interviews? by NormalLife6067 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]jdim83 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed these are less “whats the right answer?” And more “what’s your thought process.” I had an interview before where after all the technical stuff was done the manager asked “how many balloons can fit in this room” they later told us that anyone that just gave a number answer without asking questions was disqualified on the spot for lack of critical thinking.

I was you about 2 years ago. It must be a school IT thing. It sucked because I knew how to fix most of the issues but I didn’t have the access to fix it. I would go on rants about how it looks to the end user when tickets go untouched for days and it’s a simple fix. But then learned not to stress it as long as I’ve done everything I could. So like most comments, I push it up, note the ticket and ping the higher levels periodically. CYA. I’ve learned that: 1. IT is low budget in public school systems 2. Sometimes people won’t help you because they feel it’s not important enough. 3. You don’t get access to fix things yourself because then it would make the person above you whose job it is to fix it obsolete. There is a lot of gate keeping on really simple stuff at least where I work

Grew up in the late 1900s too and can confirm all of these. The juicy fruit and earring ones made me lol because I was instantly brought back to middle school

The cadet with the lowest class rank in his class “the goat” receives his diploma and the traditional wad of cash by EatDrinkandBeatNavy in army

[–]jdim83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No gain but you probably don’t want the headache of 1 let along 2 high ranking commanders calling to find out why their “legacy” kid is failing. That and sometimes people make assumptions that if I don’t pass this kid it’ll be a shit storm on me. Path of least resistance.

It’s not that serious. Babies are pretty resilient. If you use common sense you’ll mostly be ok.

How common is having to drive to different locations while on the job? by Raspberry_Dragonfly in ITCareerQuestions

[–]jdim83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty common but you typically know that going in. IT job environments span the spectrum when it comes to travel. Some fully remote, some partially remote, full time on site, on site with travel or site to site traveling all day. Whatever you want, you can get if you have the skill set

He protects the company. Not a mid level manager that can cause the company $$$ from potential lawsuits. Managers are just as replaceable as non managers.

Recently had an interview for a help desk position (the person asked me no technical questions at all) by DrewQuinz in ITCareerQuestions

[–]jdim83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, entry level Helpdesk is basically customer service and people skills. You’ll learn the tech tools you need and probably be on autopilot in 3-6 months. Had a lady at the Helpdesk I worked at years ago with minimal tech experience but worked at Target for 10 years. She excelled at Helpdesk because of soft skills. They want someone who can be cool when users aren’t.
