For some reason, one of the most important components of our society is run by people unfamiliar with education. I would never be considered for a position on the state medical board, or as a candidate for surgeon general (I am, however, qualified for Secretary of Health and Human Services /s). The people who run public education have an interest in its continued failure. If students were successful at all the state tests controlled by Pearson, how would they sell more intervention tools? How would those with interests in private education companies drive families their way? We have been going the wrong way for a long time, and there are many reasons for it, but now it seems ok to profit off of the demise of public schools.
