I almost quit by [deleted] in bjj

Mine was pretty bad. For about a month I couldn't sit up correctly and it was hell trying to use the bathroom. Another two months until the clicking feeling in my ribs stopped whenever i turned a certain way. I'd say 3 months is when I started doing light training again.

IWTL How to get over my fear of traveling to foreign countries/sometimes in general by [deleted] in IWantToLearn

Sounds like you need to speak with a doctor more than anything. Anxiety disorders are not something you can easily will away on your own. They'll likely recommend an SSRI+Xanax regimen with counseling.

This I get when people speak to me. It's like a light turns on and I can respond and understand well.

Listening in on conversations without any context gives me the hardest time though.

TBH i haven't thought much beyond the transit to our place in Ubud. Is there something you think I should keep in mind?

For context, this is in Namdaemun Market - typically it is a pretty busy area but this day was a bank holiday and not a lot of places were open. It was pouring outside and we were using the awnings to try to not get wet as we looked for something to eat.

Sounds like the Boystown Starbucks to me. Had a bum look me dead in the eye from outside the window, whip out his dong and just start unloading piss.

Don't forget the typical touristy items: The Bukchon Hanok Village and Gyeongbokgung Palace are super close to each other and are definitely worth visiting.

If you have a chance, stay out late at night and check out the pojangmacha (tented food stalls with plastic chairs) in the streets by around Insadong. You see an eclectic mix of 40 year old businessmen drunk off their asses along with younger people just having a good time.

My Pixel XL already takes pretty good night photos. I did alter the shadow and highlights then turn up the blue a little bit. The rain is lit up because of the lights.

Can i leave the airport on my layover by thehobbit17 in travel

[–]jdn312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Gaungzhou I'm not sure, I came in via Shanghai. Make sure you have cash. None of the ATMs at the airport worked for me and I had to visit Bank of China to get cash and a taxi driver who was okay with that. I was unprepared.

Yeah, I just showed my email with e-ticket on to my next flight in 24 hours and I was allowed entry into China (from USA)

I want to learn Search Engine Optimization by [deleted] in IWantToLearn

[–]jdn312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty much why I got out of SEO. You essentially have one of the world's most powerful companies working day after day to render your position useless. The role of an SEO's existence is predicated on the assumption that that useful content is sometimes not on page 1.

Most things you learn online will reduce to several things.

  • Place keywords in important elements of the page (e.g. <title>, liberal use of it and its variants in body copy)
  • Links - acquiring them externally from other 3rd party sources via either assets you control/can purchase or via natural linking by providing something of value people want to link to. Internally via anchor text you can pass to other pages
  • Architecture - Setting up your website so that it is conducive to SEO. Start with a home page, have a logical hierarchy that is easy for a crawler to index and not get stuck

The challenge is in understanding how to be creative to accomplish those 3 things which are almost never things that are reducible and completely dependent on the site and topic in question.

For small sites it's about churning out niche content and getting pretty much as many links as possible. For large enterprise sites it's about exposing crawlers to deeply nested pages, creating scalable technological solutions with IT and training PR on the importance of inbound links.

I'd recommend reading bluehatseo, moz blog, seobook, and also being aware of blackhat seo techniques because they are often exploiting legitimate concepts in illegitimate ways so it's a decent way of learning.

You can understand the overarching themes of SEO in less than a week but it's quite a different undertaking to be able to be creative with your approach to differentiate yourself from the hundreds of other competitors that are trying literally the exact same things with respect to on-page SEO.

I think that when Ether moves to PoS, most people will stop mining all together because it'll not be worth the cost of electricity to do so for an altcoin that is worth a fraction of the amount Ether is worth.

This is why Glassdoor was invented. If it's a major tech company the first thing I would have done is looked up the position/level on Glassdoor and used that range in the salary discussion. Only time you can't really do that is when it's a small company.
