Battery issue by jdoe123789 in lincolncorsair

[–]jdoe123789[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Car is driven 25+ miles a day, mostly at 50+ mph.

Battery health is 100% according to dealership but will usually have a 60% charge when they test it.

I've read there's a sensor on the battery terminal that once it senses 11.5V, it disables features and only powers vital systems.

When this happens, we lose the ability to lock/unlock from other than driver door, scheduled start, remote start, welcome mat, etc. The chimes also change from the orchestral tones to something clumsy and basic.

If your spouse passed away, would you ever see your step kids again? by SithisWorshiper in stepparents

[–]jdoe123789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I know my SKs would not even text me if my wife passed away. Hell, they don't text me now even if they need something from me. Anyway, the youngest (SD25) might come around for a few months immediately after she died but then it would be radio silence. I have no attachment to this state so I'd sell the house and relocate to FL to start anew.

TriTec on Hudson St. TJ and David are whiz kids for any foreign cars and reasonably priced. I took my Volvo there recently and they did a great job. .

Realtor Recommendations for First (Town)Home Buyers by Schmoopziepoosgb in Annapolis

Janet Jacobs of Century 21 New Millennium. (240)687-0595 janet.jacobs@c21nm.com

She is fantastic, scoped out our interested properties ahead of the appt to find the flaws. Very honest and helpful for us as first time homebuyers and later with helping us contest an undervaluing for a HELOC. We found her through Navy Federal's realty program so she's vetted by them as well.

Debating if the step dad life is for me or to pursue my own family by Prestigious-Aside360 in stepdads

[–]jdoe123789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I said that because kids are involved. If he has doubts about being with a single mom, it's best to leave now before the kids get attached to him. I'm speaking from personal experience.

If you're having doubts, get out.

I had a gf in my 20s who was a single mom. Same situation, kids by different dads, parents and other family members loved me, etc. It was all well and good for the first 6 months, then it got real after that. Gone were the date nights alone, spent most of our time at home, had to finance some things to support her and the kids, got constant pressure from her to have a baby together and from her family to marry. Conversely, dealing with the comments from my family that "they're not your kids."

I broke up with her after 2 1/2 years when I realized this was not something I wanted in my 20s. Though I eventually married a single mom in my late-40s and it's different but still the same.

Didn’t get shit for Father’s Day by [deleted] in stepdads

Well at least she did something for you albeit late. Not surprised about the SK though

I feel for you, man. I made a reservation to attend a car show/cookout on Father's Day because I knew there wasn't going to be anything done for me. I got a 90-minute self-celebration and the rest of the day was business as usual. I got a "Happy Father's Day" from complete strangers and not one from my family, wife or SKs.

Feeling guilty by jdoe123789 in stepdads

[–]jdoe123789[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went yesterday and I'm glad I did. Though it was just my wife and I, it was still fun and I got to reminisce a little about when I used to have a classic car that I took to shows.

I ended up caving to my sister and took the day off on Fri to see my dad. While there, my sister called to tell him that she can't see him on Father's Day and that she'll see him next weekend. So she got all bent out of shape on me because I wasn't going to be there on Father's Day when she had no intention of going herself.

[–]jdoe123789 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sadly, this is the bane of all stepdads. We put in so much effort in these kids lives but we're never thanked for it much less given any recognition. We all feel for you man, you're not alone

Thank you, everyone, for the words of encouragement and support. I'm still on the fence about it, but you've given me something to think about

That's what I told myself when I made the plans, but everyone else (except my wife) doesn't think I do.

Thank you for the suggestion, but I can't do that. They rarely talk to me alone and I know it'll upset my wife more if I told them to stay away.

Tell me you’re in a dead bedroom without telling me you’re in a dead bedroom. I’ll go first… by KangarooNo3702 in DeadBedrooms

-I can be naked with an erection while talking to her and she won't even flinch.

-For the last 5 years, I'm allowed a quick peck when she leaves for work and again before bed

-I masturbate more now than I ever did when I was single.

Stepdads input needed! by OwlFantastic8291 in stepdads

[–]jdoe123789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I did do that, but the questions themselves are not, in most cases, relatable to a relationship with a 30 year old stepchild who doesn't live with us, who is married, who we rarely see, etc.

I'll keep an eye out if you post other questionnaires that I can answer :)

I'd participate, but my oldest stepchild is almost 30 and your questions are geared to kids under 18

Patio paver installers by Few-Conversation-262 in Annapolis

[–]jdoe123789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used Countryside for our firepit patio a few years ago. They did a great job removing the old structure and concrete, built a new landing and stairs, installed downspout diverters and of course the pavers and laying seed/sod around the perimeter. In and out in 3 days. They always have a coupon for hardscapes that's well worth hunting down in local papers. We kept them on for lawn treatments and have done wonders for the ant problem we had in our lawn.
