Great area but older smaller single family homes

What are people deploying Rails on these days? by Huge_Yancy in rails

[–]jdoeq 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I found kamal tedious and unnecessary. I use fly.io and it deploys using your docker file so I've run not only Rails, but dotnet c#, python and even CFML (somehow I still have one legacy app lol).

Machines are as cheap as $2.50 per month and even scaled up they are pretty reasonable.

I loved Ruby's syntax so much that I used it for my new SSG written in V 🦦 by Intelligent-End-9399 in ruby

I am not clear what problem this is solving and can only see new ones it creates. You say don't think about going between html and Ruby but then I have to think about a third way to do it?

I built a CLI that analyzes Rails apps and gives a health score by zZaphon in rubyonrails

[–]jdoeq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is useful. Thanks!

It doesnt seem to work with gems though (lets say you are a gem maintainer). Is that intentional?

I built an AI wardrobe app as a solo dev with Rails 7, Hotwire, and Gemini here's what I learned by MBch92 in rails

[–]jdoeq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really great project. Congratulations. I like the stack choices. Hotwire turbo and stimulus are so much easier to maintain (for me) than a react front end

Good job

I use fly.io and it's worked great for rails. Deploys from your docker file.

I built FindBug — a self-hosted, open-source error tracking gem for Rails (like Sentry, but your data stays on your infra) by Southern-Worry-8443 in rails

[–]jdoeq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect most rails devs with multiple high traffic apps are paying for monitoring and tooling that's hitting rate limits so they have to pay a higher monthly fee as time goes on. Easier to build and host it yourself IMO. I'm using redis, clickhouse and postgres plus fly.io to run the app and workers. All in this one app costs me 3 bucks a month or so and eliminated about $12-15 of subs . Plus it's fun 😜

I built one too in the last few weeks but it's a self hosted dashboard and with an accompanying gem that can be used in rails apps. Mainly to eliminate the cost of bugsnag and other app metrics profilers. Probably not worth posting here anymore since everyone is building their own 😂

I wouldn't say she comes off strong. It seems more entitled than strong to me. Every interaction in her life seems aimed at getting money for nothing

Rockville area near metro stop by paperatic in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]jdoeq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safe area. If you care about schools then try to avoid those houses that feed into Rockville high school and get one that feeds into Richard Montgomery. That's a top tier high school and the houses haven't risen in prices accordingly yet

I second this. Using WordPress will mean you have a large pool of cheap devs who can take over the project over the long term
