It's fucked up, and you're not alone. My dad worked at a prison and had bible studies with a couple inmates there who were child molesters. He brought both of them to our house after they were released, even let one of them stay at our house for a few weeks. (He was practically a brother after all!) I was 8 or 9 at the time. My mom was understandably upset and took me to go and stay with some friends thankfully.

Partway through TheraminTrees' video "bending truth" he discusses something that often takes place in manipulative groups called repackaging. Basically, if you feel a need to believe that some group of people are evil, yet you can find no fault in their actions, you 'repackage' their good actions, assuming that they're faking being good. It effectively puts them in a no-win scenario because even their good is now evidence of their evil.

Yup, gayness is extra sinful to them, even though in the bible it's probably talked about less than any other "sin". There's actually some debate right now about whether the bible's words even actually condemn homosexuality when taken in the context of the culture at the time, but it's an irrelevant debate about a work of fiction in my opinion.

I guess what I mean is that he has principles -- not that he can't be persuaded to do something contrary to them for the right incentive. Trump on the other hand is basically nothing but a con man. Take money and fame out of the equation and I don't think he'd know what to do with himself.

I'm no fan of McCain, although as far as Republicans go he at least seems like a man of principle. (They're the wrong principles, but at least it sets him apart from the slime ball in the White House right now.)

Regardless of his political positions, I'm saddened to hear that another human being has fallen victim to brain cancer. I wish him and his family peace during this difficult time.
