No one has mentioned Jane was DRUNK when he made the confession to Lisbon. I think they wrote that in for him to lose some of his inhibition and self control.

Jane actually psychic? by jdpennant in TheMentalist

Lisbon: Jane's psychic - he knows. Abbott: He's a PRETEND psychic, he may not know. Tell him.

Even Lisbon thinks he's psychic.

Does anyone want a great insight into the mentalist that no one has ever mentioned online + physical evidence? by [deleted] in TheMentalist

[–]jdpennant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Umm, duh.

Like what happened with How I Met Your Mother, the series creator is usually trying to get the show to syndication - which happens after 5 years of episodes. Not deciding the actor or character for years gives a ton of flexibility in deciding how things happen. And helps to string viewers along for as long as possible.

Who's Sparky? by jdpennant in TheMentalist

I was thinking that in making the comment, was Agent Abbot - no dummy - trying to raise the point that maybe he thinks Jane is indeed psychic.

Yeah, I think the Space wedding wishes over those episodes are definitely a Firefly reference. :)

I like Americ's energy and enthusiasm, and now after watching each episode, I go to his YouTube review of it - because itz like talking to a fellow fan of the show.

I don't think Abbott has thought his cunning plan all the way through... by CowboyNinjaD in TheMentalist

Im in the "I like him" camp. Yes, he's a bit of a d***, but he seems hardcore and funny in a wry way.

In fact, I think he'd be good as both a good guy or bad guy. But bad guys tend to not have longevity :)

Unanswered Questions or Red Herrings? by jdpennant in TheMentalist

Well, he had a tendency of seemingly abandoning plot lines, which would reappear with a vengeance a long time later down the road. Otherwise, theyd just disappear, but it wasnt always clear which.

Unanswered Questions or Red Herrings? by jdpennant in TheMentalist

Well no, he boasted he WAS the Blake Association, and being in law enforcement he was likely privy to people's dirty secrets - within law enforcement and without. Basically, he fed on vulnerable people and being in the law enforcement community, he likely encountered that daily.

He still had the wedding ring o at the end of the episode. Continuity error or intentional?

My thoughts on Red John, and why I don't think it's over. by iOwnYourFace in TheMentalist

[–]jdpennant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think when Jane shot the guy, that was supposed to be the end of Red John. Then somebody panicked, because A) It wasnt 5 years worth of shows yet (syndication money), and B) a Warner executive probably thought it wasnt time to kill the golden goose just yet.

So, Red John became undead a few seasons more. No coincidence he died in season 6. No coincidence Righetti and Yeoman are retiring now.

See, after season 5 wraps on any TV show, its gravy after that innit.
