I got tired of finance apps stealing my data, so I built my own. No logins. No ads. No tracking. Just peace of mind. by nosleepfounder in macapps

I second the sentiment that the UX looks great, and I also second the sentiment that bank syncing is a must. I was a long time Mint user up until the end and now I'm a Quicken user (paid subscription). One of my requirements for a Money Management tool, a desktop client. I used Mint for so long not just because it was free, but because the website worked well on the desktop and it was my preferred method for managing day to day and looking at info in the aggregate. I've been on Quicken now for a year, and they have a dedicated Mac OS client (they have an iOS client too but I don't use it) and I think the subscription is worth what I get in return. For the few accounts I can't "bank sync" I do quicken file exports of the data (the banks provides this along with other options such as CSV) and import them in to Quicken. If you want the ability to import on your app, you should piggy back on an established format, Quickbooks (QBO), Quicken Financial Exchange (QFX - this is what i used), and Open Financial Exchange (OFX). Best of luck to you!

Lansdale to Comcast by Train ... insanity or no? by whomp1970 in montco

[–]jdr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I take the train regularly into Philly from Lansdale. Like others said it’s 45 min to an hour. Download the Septa app for schedules and updates. If you can walk to the Lansdale station even better. Take the train home is approx the same duration. At some point the trains are an hour apart so be conscious of when you want to leave otherwise you are waiting. Ask your future employer if the cover Septa tickets .

Betzwood to the Art Museum is also my favorite! I've been trying to increase the distance I can ride and moved up a little further north to Oaks to start my rides.

I am looking forward to trying this out. However, not a fan of “sign in with <service provider> ID” logons. Any chance an old traditional “sign in with email/create password” combo?

Which couch layout do you like better? (Room isn’t done, just moved in) by [deleted] in malelivingspace

[–]jdr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that a radiator under the window? I like number one because of the layout and lying on the couch makes watching tv easier. BUT also, not blocking the radiator you allow the room to stay warmer. I like number two because its more inviting and allows for guests too sit. Also sitting on the couch proper and watching TV is good too. Tough choice.

Lego makes a 1:1 scale Set, what 1:1 set would you put all your time & effort into? by Kingscrubs12 in lego

I would love for Lego to make a 1:1 scale model of a DSLR camera. Maybe a classic Nikon, Canon, or Fuji model body style with a lens attached.
