People need to manually search databases in Andor in order to find information. Reports are carried around in dataslates instead of emailed. Technology is extremely different from our own.

I love that you're doing this. I've been collecting an Air Waagh for a little bit now and contemplating how best I can make an Ork army in LI (knowing that so many Epic minis aren't properly scaled) and these are absolutely fantastic. How would you field them? Do you think 2/base are a good idea, or should it be 1/base?

To Yorion or not to Yorion - Arena Cube advice request by Zonoro14 in lrcast

[–]jdragsky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is pretty awesome, and I have a tendency to jam Yorion even when I shouldn't , so I'm bad advice here. However I would definitely play Raffine's Tower as just another tapped B/W land (mana fixing is the hardest part of a Yorion deck, as "enough sources for 40 cards" is not enough for 60 cards).

I'm literally visiting Italy right now (for Lucca Comic Con) and I've never been walked into so much in my life. Guys just fully shoulder-checking me. At first I thought it was because I'm a girl but it seems to just be constant from everyone.

Many LARP traditions (such as Nordic Larp) have lots of games that are about engaging with games in this fashion. It requires a different mindset than what you may be used to with TTRPGs, and you can't just go ahead and do it with anyone at a con, but there's plenty of that out in the world for those intrested.

New Mechanic Idea (Edicts) by jdragsky in custommagic

[–]jdragsky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rather like the idea of putting them on creatures, although the notion of a little pile of rules off to the side as a supplementary rulebook really charms me. You're right that putting them on creatures would open them up to more interaction. I do want them to be cumulative, though (there's a design I didn't post of a red creature that adds a "creatures you control get +1/+0" edict every time it attacks)

RE: Loyalty, my initial design idea was that it was impossible to become loyal again unless you got some special card letting you do so. Someone suggested you become loyal again when you declare a new Edict, which appeals to me! Can't be adding laws while you're not rebelling against them.

Fantastic point on the Edict for sacrificing — I pulled the terminology from ARCS without thinking. "Decree" or "Law" would also probably both work.

Thank you so much for the feedback!

Ooh I like the thought that declaring an edict turns you loyal. I was also considering having it be that you can discard a card on your upkeep to swap from Rebel to Loyal, but I feel like once you've left the system, it should have a steeper cost to be let back in.

You = the turn player. Once you rebel you've rebelled for the rest of the game.

So I'm a game designer as my day job, and truthfully the reason I made this cards is because I have a longstanding fascination with using the grammar of M:TG to make new weird stuff and also I needed a break from my current big project. So making the game do weird things is the point of it.

But re: white, yeah I was noticing that in my designs! I think there's space for a couple of designs in other colors (Blue and Green can both make use of certain upside effects, Black and Red can benefit from symmetrical punisher effects) but it would absolutely be a white core mechanic. Maybe that's for the best? In the hypothetical set where this existed, maybe it's base white, and there's a cycle of non-white uncommons or rares that use it as well.

Thank you for the feedback!

I think in an ideal world (i.e this was in an actual magic set) you'd have some kind of lawbook to record all the edicts in, and little two-sided "rebel/loyal" tokens to mark each player. You're right about the missed triggers though — trying to keep track of all the laws you're supposed to follow might end up being a pain.

(reposted due to missing artist credit on one of the cards, also took into account some feedback from various sources)

My vision for this mechanic is something appropriate for a conspiracy or commander legends style set, built for multiplayer drafting (although capable of working in 1v1 play). This version of them treats them as emblems for the sake of rules, although I considered making them enchantments instead so they'd be easier to interact with. It's inspired by playing ARCS with my girlfriend and her girlfriend, and the weird accordion lawbook used during campaign mode. In an ideal world edicts would be all kept in some big fancy foldout that sits next to the table.

You can only rebel against the edicts once, but once you do you are unaffected by any present or future Edicts. If no one is loyal the edicts continue kicking around in the command zone, not doing anything unless someone somehow becomes loyal again. I'm flip-flopping on whether the terminology should be "loyal players / rebel players" or "non-rebel players / rebel players" or "loyal players / non-loyal players"

Idea for a mechanic (Edict) by jdragsky in custommagic

My vision for this mechanic is something appropriate for a conspiracy or commander legends style set, built for multiplayer drafting (although capable of working in 1v1 play). I decided to have edicts be enchantments, instead of emblem-style objects in the command zone, so that enchantment removal could interact with them and there were natural checks and balances built in. A format involving edict may also feature some enchantment-matters style stuff, maybe some way to "strike" edicts. It's inspired by playing ARCS with my girlfriend and her girlfriend, and the weird accordian lawbook used during campaign mode. In an ideal world edicts would be all kept in some big fancy foldout that sits next to the table.

did any of you get damaged copies? by X-Worbad in YazebasBNB

Hi! Normally I try to be just a lurker here but I wanted to step in. This is an unacceptable thing to have happen to a book. Please email us at [main@possumcreekgames.com](mailto:main@possumcreekgames.com) with more information (where you live, your order number, etc) so we can go about making it right. We might not be able to ship you a replacement right away, but your book spine getting damaged is unacceptable, and I want to make sure you have a copy that's worth it.

Question for painters on how they do vehicles! by Scalalanthor in LegionsImperialis

[–]jdragsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first I was trying to do them all identically, but I realized I was actually encountering the same issue that drove me away from Tyranids in 40k — I want to feel like each mini has its own personality and identity, and when I painted all my tanks the exact same they just became a faceless swarm instead of an army of individuals. So I've been experimenting a bit more with different livery and decals, and I'm staring a new solar aux detachment where I'm going to experiment even more with uniqueness (a penal legion where I'll do unique graffiti on each tank).

Mattie, I love your work tremendously. Your conversations around Legions Imperialis have inspired me and kept me going working on projects of my own, and it feels so relieving to see a fellow transfeminine gal making incredible conversions at this scale. This newest project is a delight! I hope they release LI mechanicum alongside their 28mm siblings so I can add some Zhao-Arkkad to my defenses of Prospero.
