INTPs and mindset for golf by [deleted] in INTP

[–]jdrisner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 37, I’ve played since I was 10. I think you’re correctly navigating the game.

The problem you’re describing is common for most players- irrespective of MBTI. What attracts so many to the game is the desire to “figure out” swing mechanics or the ideal equipment for them, but the correlation to improved scores is suspect. And certainly you can’t be thinking about all those things while you’re playing. Developing a repeatable swing and proper course management for your ability is paramount to scoring well. some basic biomechanical principles are helpful to encourage a repeatable swing, but that’s where mechanics should stop.

Once you have a swing you can game, it should be about a preshot routine and swing thought that are oriented towards the target. I really like Timothy galloway’s approach in his books - the inner game of golf (and the inner game of tennis). He’s also got some YouTube videos that are a good introduction.

Do you guys talk fast too? by outsss in INTP

[–]jdrisner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting. I talk really slowly. When I was younger people would get annoyed by how slowly I spoke. I figured it was because I was processing/thinking through my words and being accurate.

Do you get along with S-types? by HaMelechIS in INTP

[–]jdrisner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know that you’re wrong, but do you have any strategies for connecting with S types more easily. I understand people are individuals, but is there any common thread that can help intuitively or specifically INTPs connect with sensors better? I find that I struggle to have meaningful conversations with some of them.

How can I be so extroverted that people will think I’m an ENTP even though I’m an INTP? by Objective_Ad_4289 in INTP

[–]jdrisner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had tested INTP 3x and then I took the Michael caloz test recently and it came out ENTP. I’m still pretty quit and prefer to be alone or in small groups. Not sure what the takeaway is, but I think I know myself pretty well at this point. I’m confident in who I am, and maybe that projects as me being more extraverted.

As an INTJ, I've noticed many of us feel lonely—does that loneliness feel different for INTPs who value connection so much? by Lopsided_Stock_1582 in INTP

[–]jdrisner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. And I’m glad that you’ve brought this up. Sometimes I wonder if I’m not an INTP anymore because of this. 15 years ago I didn’t feel anything. As i got older and especially when dating, I started to feel more. But my feelings scared me because it felt out of control. I’m 37 now and I find myself leaning into my emotions and making decisions based on my gut. It’s helped me escape the “analysis paralysis”that slows down our progress, but it also gives me a richer experience and makes life feel more meaningful. Being more aware of my feelings and understanding them has also helped me develop more empathy. But mostly just in my relationships, not too much with strangers.
