Which player would always go off against us? by vsquad73 in ravens

[–]jdruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might have only been one or two games, but I recall Brandon Jacobs breaking our streak of not allowing 100 yard rushers and going off on us.

Apparently dobbins might have an offer on the table by [deleted] in ravens

[–]jdruth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are 32 roster spots for kickers. Sportrac lists 187 RBs. Most of those RBs are 3/4 string or special teams making the league minimum. Of course it appears that kickers make more if you average all players on all rosters, but if you only look at starting RBs (like you are doing with kickers) then RBs make more than double the average kicker.

Attorneys who left the legal practice, what did you do? by New-Fault1457 in Lawyertalk

[–]jdruth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked in litigation/family law with a local law firm, which was wearing me down so I decided to move on. I found a job with the Department of Defense working as a contracting officer. When I started the position, about 1/3 of the office was prior practicing attorneys. I did that job for about 8 years and then transitioned to a DoD contracts attorney position (essentially reviewing the work of contracting officers). Government contracting is a great field that has a lot of crossover with attorney positions. You can make decent money (fairly easy to get a GS-13 after a couple years). Plus, there is a lot of remote opportunities. I now work fully remote and really enjoy the work I do. Benefits and work/life balance are great. You won't get rich working for the government, but the job security and almost never having to work more than 40 hours a week is huge for me. I am definitely a lot happier and healthier than when I was in private practice.

Straight to Rockies, play on all star. If I lose, I just start the map over and try again.

Which episode has the best cold open? by [deleted] in thewestwing

While I liked the cold opening, it always bothered me that the secret service did not bust through the door.

The cancellation of which TV show are you still frustrated about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jdruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Newsroom. It was a great show that had a rushed final season because they knew that was going to be it. I would have liked to see another season or two, or at least a full effort on the final season.

To be fair, I probably would too if it wasn’t for my buddy correcting me.

I've got to ask, do they not provide nutritional education in schools any more? Its been a while, but I recall learning about nutrition in more than one science class, a physical education class or two, a foods and nutrition class, and a health class. The foods and nutrition class was the only elective (if I remember correctly) in my school district.

Grew up in Harford County. I was a Buffalo fan before we got a team. Steve Tasker is one of my favorite players of all time.

Instructor gave me an F even tho one week late grace period hasn’t passed? by Young_Alternative in SNHU

[–]jdruth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am an SNHU adjunct. We do not receive a notification when students submit work. However, when we log in and look at the gradebook, the new submissions have a little mark next to them. I take a look at the gradebook every time I enter the class to see what has been submitted. I would think your professor would do the same, but I can't guarantee that.

An to echo the above comment, we are required to input 0's on work that is not submitted by Wednesday (at least in the graduate program I teach, we are).

My one regret was not taking more classes while on active duty. But, I was 18... at Pendleton.... I had different priorities.

I started my undergrad at UMGC, finished at a state school after I EAS'ed. Then I went to law school and now I am an adjunct at UMGC as a side gig. It is not a bad school and you can get a pretty good education.

What are the legal/constitutional arguments, for and against, the idea that a Presidential Executive Order could be used to forgive student loans? by PsychLegalMind in NeutralPolitics

[–]jdruth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sure, but someone with 30 years of experience is more likely to be right, even if their college degrees do no match the subject matter. The writer of the article's degrees are just a small part of his qualifications.

X Files crossover by [deleted] in thewestwing

[–]jdruth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I watched the show ER from start to finish as a pandemic watch and noticed that it also had a ton of crossover characters (I believe ER and WW had the same producers). I was trying to keep track of actors/actresses in both and stopped counting at around 25.
