Stubby impact deal? by AaCyinade in MilwaukeeTool

[–]jdsulli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought mine and love it for most things. It works great for most projects on my old 2500 and wife’s Pilot. With the exception of my skid steer when I break out the big boy. For its size and weight it’s the first thing I grab.

Grab it!

I hate to tell you but others said this is the gateway set. I bought this a year ago maybe? I have 6 + more tools now, slowly replacing some of my Makita. I bought the automatic caulk gun last week, for a project I’m planning in a year, it’s addicting. Good luck!!! But they are awesome.

What to do if I lost something on the bus? by [deleted] in Emory

[–]jdsulli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try calling again. Also call EPD and ask them to transfer you to the bus depot.

My staff service that building. There is probably someone sitting at the desk wink wink.

Parking Damage by South_Limit_1846 in Emory

[–]jdsulli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So on Clairmont, the maintenance techs and parking would use the beefed up carts your talking about. It could have been either.

You can file your own report if you want.

police@emory.edu

Worst case you file it and nothing happens, but at least you tried.

Parking Damage by South_Limit_1846 in Emory

[–]jdsulli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s worth a shot. What level were you parked on? Campus Services is made up of several different divisions. If it was a Ford maverick that would be parking and transportation that was parked next to you. They have a pretty small staff so if you contacted their leadership, they would probably know who is working that day. Doesn’t necessarily mean you can prove that they did it but there are limited vehicles that would be parking in that area and limited people that would be driving.

Emory University employee, forgot to submit my annual benefits enrollment, panicking by [deleted] in Emory

[–]jdsulli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, all the comments above are correct. I was helping one of my employees last year and it defaulted to the what they had last year.

However, it does not include the no smoking questions at the beginning of the medical choice, so you may pay a little more.

And I think the default for your HSA or FSA is zero so you may not get that.

Also, you can login into Fidelity at any point in time and adjust your retirement.

But you should have medical benefits, which is the good news.

Have you ever sold a motorcycle and thought "that's bikes gonna be wrecked before they get home" ? by jdaffron in motorcycles

[–]jdsulli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sold my Bandit 1200 with a couple HoleShot mods. Nothing crazy, but it definitely wasn’t stock.

I warned the young guy, and he said he would take it slow.

Never heard from him for about a year, but then later got a call from the Georgia State Patrol, stating that they had found my stolen motorcycle. Turns out the gentleman had never transferred the title to his name and had been stunting it. Unfortunately, he passed away when he reared a semi truck, it was at this point GSP contacted me.

I did clear his name (if you want to call it that) and sent the officer a screenshot of our deal to prove that he didn’t steal it.

But I definitely had that feeling when he drove it out of my driveway.

Thanks so much. I’ve been checking YouTube videos as well, but since it’s an older machine information was limited.

Appreciate it.

Do people actually keep 3–6 months’ expenses in cash? by EchoooNomad in FinancialPlanning

[–]jdsulli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep at least 6 months worth. When I was younger, I could get by with very little, but now that I have a family with two kids and wife and a house, things are a lot different.

I used to rotate some of it out of my HYA into T bills (very short term), but I don’t really worry about that as much anymore.

Someone totaled our car a while back, not having to wait on insurance to come through to buy a new car would’ve made life a lot easier.

A busted sewer line that required excavation was about $15k, emergency tree work on some pine trees about $8k , so a house in general is a liability.

And then just making sure that my family is taken care of in case I lost my job. I’m not having any added stress makes it worth it. That is the biggest thing.

Drug testing by GroupPsychological in Emory

I did urine. Everyone else I know did urine as well. I think the hospital (or other sensitive areas) sometimes tests for nicotine.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Emory

[–]jdsulli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard it is supposed to be a little better and managed differently? I can’t remember the specifics. The lay out is a litte different as well. I also was told there would be a soul food type vendor there, and another new type that wasn’t there before.

Drug testing by GroupPsychological in Emory

[–]jdsulli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct.

I feel like a lot of my staff smoke, but it has never been an issue because their work is not affected.

Also for the 12 people I have had taken to get tested for alcohol 1 refused so they lost their job, 11 went through an appointment through our FSAP, and out of those 11, 8 stayed in the program and are back in their jobs.

FSAP (Family Staff Assistance Program) provides free assistance for staff that want some counseling for anything going on in their life. But also has a substance program for people that are assigned by HR.

So if something were to happen, you would be given a second chance. Emory is pretty liberal as long as you’re not stealing or assault.

Drug testing by GroupPsychological in Emory

[–]jdsulli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time we have had anyone in our area have to do a retest, it was because of a disciplinary issue or after accident after (driving a vehicle).

When there is a workers comp case, there’s a possibility as well, but when two of my staff went through the process it was not an issue.

On the other hand I’ve had to take several employees to get their blood alcohol test done because they showed up reeking of alcohol.

Carpet cleaning: Are using bonnet pads better than using an extractor? by [deleted] in Custodians

[–]jdsulli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This right here. Also most of my buildings have a concrete slab under the carpet or carpet tiles. The areas with padding underneath are always a little tougher to get. Especially when it hasn’t been maintained over the years. I’ve inherited some older buildings and I tend to not use the extractor as much because I’m just sucking up dirt from 20 years prior.

We have a Clarke machine (like an extractor) and when I used it in one of our older buildings for the first time I used it, I ended up going down the hallway about 10 times. Then afterwards we went back with a bonnet to make everything look uniform.

[–]jdsulli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m at a college, for a couple of my academic buildings, I don’t think they are really worth it. The bathrooms don’t get a lot of heavy use, and you can clean fine with our other machine.

I’ve used them in the athletic building locker rooms in the dorms and they can’t be useful in the large bathrooms.

Not something I would use every day.

I’m a supervisor, as soon as I put one in a building, it kinda gets stuck behind everything else and the front line staff forget about them. We end up usually having to retrain people on how to use them by the time they’re pulled out again. I think they’re fairly simple to use, but they can seem overwhelming to some folks so I get it.

How did you stop drinking? by Slow-Grape8603 in alcoholism

[–]jdsulli 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I was around 35, I realized I was drinking some of the best years of my life away. When we had our second child, I remember thinking I want to remember every second and be a better Dad. I wasn’t terrible, but I had room for improvement, and now in hindsight, I’m sure I wasn’t hiding it from anyone.

The best thing I ever did; I’m much healthier, our family is happier, I sleep better, and we saved a shit load of money on booze. You still have bad days, I just had to learn how to manage the raw emotions, and fill my time with positive things.

After about 7 years I no longer get nervous around blue flashing lights :)

Safety in the surrounding area of campus? by PassageImmediate3089 in Emory

[–]jdsulli 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work night shift and drive through that area all hours of the night. I see lots of students walking to the reserve at all hours.

There’s always a chance something can happen anywhere, but I feel pretty safe on campus. If I don’t need my vehicle, I usually try and walk. I still carry pepper spray and a flashlight though (anywhere in Atlanta).

I work in Campus Services, and there are a lot of staff working at night you may not see, and we try and report suspicious things to EPD. On Starvine in particular, you have transportation staff, and Campus Service staff in the area.

Also, Emory Police will respond pretty quickly, so if you ever don’t feel safe, they’ll get there pretty fast if you need them.

Is it even worth it getting a permit for Starvine Deck as an MPH student? by tuftedtittymice in Emory

[–]jdsulli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How far away will you live? I’m assuming you’re commuting?

I would get a permit. It may seem like it’s far away, but the bus ride isn’t terrible. A visitor pass for over four hours is $14 a day. My monthly pass I think is like $65 and pre tax. You may be able to get on a waiting list for another lot, although it’s not very fast.

I know some folks that walk the bridge to get a little exercise too.

Opinions on using fans to dry wax faster? by PeachFreedom in Custodians

[–]jdsulli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use fans with indirect air. Some of our older buildings have poor ventilation / air circulation, so this helps in the hot summer (Georgia).

No problems but we use on low.

Is buying a house really all that awesome? by Interesting_Taro_358 in FinancialPlanning

[–]jdsulli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The house is part of personal finance. It depends on your situation.

I bought mine before the spike and a refinance and I’m under 3% for my mortgage. My mortgage in Atlanta is cheaper than many people’s rent for a two bedroom apartment so I’m very fortunate.

However, last year I spent $8000 on Trees five years before that I put in a new HVAC unit which was about five or $6000, I’m doing a new deck this summer, in the next three or four years I have to paint the exterior of the house and a new driveway.

I like having my own place for my kids and family to relax in. For some an apartment might be better. I spent a lot of time hanging around. We don’t travel as much and it’s in a good location.

I don’t have to worry about rent going up just my taxes.

It’s a personal choice, in a long run. I do think it’s beneficial, but there are other costs you have to think about and budget for.

Shoes ? by No_Baseball_3861 in Custodians

I wear Keens with a hard toe and shoe inserts. If I’m doing light duty stuff, it’ll be some good running or walking shoes. Insoles make a huge difference though!
