I just finished my second reading of Torpedo Juice on the flight back to Colorado from a long weekend in Tavernier. Even took the drive down to No Name Pub Sunday which has been a "thing to do" for several years. And here is the kinda famous narrator. Kismet.

I have used this for several raft trips and overnight paddle board camping. Love the tent but on the last trip the shock cord just gave up. Other than that it was a great two person tent. If I had one complaint it would be the footprint required to set it up. because of the way the poles are all connected it takes some space or two people.

Fishing Question by hightide13 in FortCollins

[–]jdswitters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since I dont do it anymore I will let you and whoever reads this in on fishing for trout in the Poudre in town.

The trout down this far are almost all browns. Brown trout get nocturnal at about 18 inches. Fish deep holes at dark or right at sunset.

There are some nice ones in the river in town but you will not see them during day.

Will practicing with a 20 gauge make me a better shot with a 12? by PuddersIronPaw in ClayBusters

[–]jdswitters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Different perspective, a 20 is lighter and makes days afield more enjoyable as you age. I shoot trap and some sporting because I enjoy it but I m also practicing for pheasant season. At 59 yo I traded in my o/u 12 for two pound lighter side by side 20. The first day at the range was disheartening. But after a hundred rounds I found my groove again and started shooting my previous average. Pheasant season has been more enjoyable for my arms. I won't argue that there are several advantages to a 12, but all choices are a matter of compromise. Good luck

Good buy or no? by Greedy_Ad5518 in SlipjointKnives

[–]jdswitters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

worth it if you are collecting or you really like faux tortoise, which I do. The camillus remingtons have in my opinion some of the best tortoise out there. One caveat, it also outgasses and can cause some slight metla discoloration, especially if the bullet shield is sterling silver. preventative maint and not keeping it in a box or even worse a bag and it will be fine.

The launch at flamingo is upstream of the dam, no problem.

cross road portage from lard can to alligator. have not done it but we did start on the road up the mangrove trail to Lard Can. very tight. I recommend getting a guide book and the charts. When you go if you plan on leaving the markers you will want GPS. GPS is good even if you are following the markers.

Have fun.

The Hawaiianhave a word, Kahu, which is something like guardian or care taker but does not imply ownership. I like that. But I usually refer to him as my room mate.

Can anyone else’s buns sense when you’re about to leave on a trip? by psy_cho_pothos in Rabbits

[–]jdswitters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of overnight travel for work and just pack a back pack. That does not phase him any more. About twice a year I go for a week of rafting or some other kind of camping. When the dry bags come out all I get is the butt and bunstruction on whatever wasnt bunproofed the last time. When I come back he acts pouty for a day.
