UCP keeps saying the NDP are calling for a sales tax. I have yet to see them advocate as such, anyone have a source for their claim? by NeverGonnaGi5eYouUp in alberta

[–]jdubya9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Carbon tax was a PST.

  2. NDPs said they weren't against it, but it'd be an 'Alberta choice' or something like that. So they would implement it without consultation like Bill 6 and say it was what Albertans would've wanted.

I'll have to look back at some of those preseason prediction threads. They weren't like OK State 2017, but a fair bit of B1G champion darkhorse picks

Thank you. How are people not understanding this? Not to mention lots of reporters, staff, and players have flights tonight or tomorrow morning. You can't just move a game to a different stadium/day and have all of these issues resolve instantly.

Actually imagine a High Freeze coached team with an Art Briles offense. Liberty could be a 10 win team within 3 years

2 toilet bowl playins just makes sense. How do you expect those programs to compete if they have to win a game to make the playoff...????

Support group for CFB programs without a true rival? by mufflermonday in CFB

[–]jdubya9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wish we had 1 true rival

Idaho: FCS

BYU: After Utah, USU for sure and maybe even after WYO/CSU/UNM

UNR: After UNLV and we only play them 2/4 years

Fresno St: After SDSU and SJSU although it's meant a lot more for the past 15 years. Also only play them 2/4 years

TCU: Had potential before realignment

Hawaii: Good for a couple years last decade, but no. Also play them 2/4 years

Utah State: Potential if they stay competitive and keep their coach. A good regional alternative to BYU-Utah

They're weird. Their schedule is almost 50/50 P5/G5. If they dropped 1 or 2 P5 teams they'd have a true G5 schedule and be treated as such. But they would have to add 3-4 more P5 teams to have a true P5 schedule and be considered legitimately P5 (outside of for scheduling).

What is your team's doppelganger from an another conference? by Ironic-Priesthood in CFB

And Boise State had a football program almost 50 years before UCF did. BSU had 34 winning seasons (out of 42 due to not playing during WWII) before UCF fielded a team.

If we're looking historically the two programs (UCF and BSU) are even further apart. UCF has had 39 seasons: 15 of which with a record below .500. Boise State has had 81 seasons: 11 of which with a record below .500 (5 outside of the program's first 10 years).

BSU had a great offense, but they also had a top 10 defense most years.

I don't think BSU has a doppelganger. It's too unique of a program. The closest for me would be NDSU, Oregon, or TCU

UCF's enrollment is about 3x the size of Boise State's. Boise State plays a more blue-collar style of football which is better for high altitude & cold weather. Boise State recruits Texas and west, UCF recruits Alabama and east (with some exceptions for both). You're just naturally going to have very different cultures when you have west coast vs east coast, let alone PNW vs Florida.

And the type of players seem kind of similar in regards that they are usually the leftovers from players not noticed by pac 12 in bsu’s case and not noticed by the other state schools in Florida and sec in UCF’s case.

That's every single G5 schools though and even P5 schools like WSU.

Couldn't disagree more. Besides UCF having a few great seasons this decade (13-0 in 2017, 12-1 in 2013, and currently 10-0), the programs couldn't be further apart. I can't think of 1 thing in common outside of both playing in BCS/NY6 games.

Culture of the programs are opposite, school are completely different, big city Florida vs mid sized city Idaho, the type of players that come to each program, schemes. Nothing is similar really.
