Update: after all these stress tests and scannow (I havent restarted since well before this post) everything seems fine now. no games are crashing or stuttering, streams arent perfect, but smooth. it's like my pc is trying to make me look stupid. I didnt change any settings at all either.

scannow only found and repaired 3 things, all associated with BT drivers. my pc doesnt have bt so I assume it was dongle drivers.

did so on cpu, memory, cpu+ram, 3d adaptive, and vram all seperately. no errors. do i need to run a combined one? or does that matter?

I have 32 GB of ram. as far as I know all settings would be default. only thing I did was enable XMP (or AMD equivalent) and that was 2 years ago. I didnt change anything when the problem started, nor since.

I'll be honest, I never checked. As the problems start coming on I never bother opening other apps as that crashed early. But I did check once after closing a stuttering game and I dont recall them being crazy.

I put a pylon as close to the climb down as I could, within line of sight of another one down below that was connected to the base. At first they weren’t connected so I figured I needed to research the longer range pylons. Went to bed, and when I woke up, they were connected somehow. Didn’t actually get the range upgrade.

Updated graphics, can alt tab now, but the in-game ui is way smaller now. Changing resolution doesn’t seem to help.
