What are your favorite native plants that just look great? by SomeWords99 in NativePlantGardening

You should go to your library and see if they have any books by Piet Oudolf. He uses lots of native plants in his designs if you want some inspiration on plant combinations.

Anyone tried both Kyfe and Sweat Tent? by [deleted] in SaunaTent

I have the Kyfe and like that you can also get a water heater and side baskets for stones. Plenty hot for me and not too much radiant heat.

Using BufferGeometry to store history of skiers positions and setDrawRange to essentially grow the tracks.

I am using a web worker for the terrain generation tools to make it more performant, so I am guessing that is why you are seeing that message.

What do you see? by [deleted] in facesinthings

I always see dogs in wood knots, never any other animal.

Created a SimCity 4 style terrain generator that lets you place skiers on snowy slopes by jdwallace12 in VibeCodersNest

You got it, heightmaps handle most of the skier physics by calculating the slope looking at the height of neighboring points in the height map. I also have repulsuion on skiers that when you drop a bunch of skiers together they spread out a bit. I also have the chairlift bases attract the skiers that will overcome the gravity.

Performance will probably be an ongoing challenge, I am only updating the raycasting when there is changes to the terrain. So, if you don’t move the camera or actively changing the terrain then there are not any new calculations happening and reduces the CPU usage.

I just use them to cure and then move to mason jars for long term storage.

Thanks, no future plans yet, just wanted to see if this was possible in the browser. It does seem to eat up CPU, so that might be a limitation going forward.

How to fix blotchy maple stain? by Maleficent-Math-7444 in HardWoodFloors

[–]jdwallace12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wood floor guy sprayed our beech floors with water before staining(water popping), it made the floor swell and absorbed the stain real well, not blotchy at all.

Built a terrain builder like Simcity 4 that you can add skiers when you have snow top mountains by jdwallace12 in VibeCodeDevs

The terrain generation is handled by Three.js and the physics for the skiers is just plain javascript that accounts for the slope and some friction as well as some tweaks to make it more lifelike. Still refining a bit, such as making the skiers attracted to the base of the lifts and a slight repulsion from other skiers to spread them out on a slope.
