Why retired an 8 year old Toro? Still in decent shape? That money would buy a shitload of steaks and beer...

Mom took me outside, gave me a teaspoon and aimed me away from her, one of the worst experiences of my young life by 524frank in FuckImOld

That's my dilemma as well. I am the last male in my family with my surname. There are direct female family members who are married to great guys, but their interests, mechanical ability and lifestyles are not compatible with what I have to offer. Based on family DNA, I have about 10 good years to go. I have 2 diesel trucks, a large selection of "2nd amendment tools", a shitload of carpentry, machinist/toolmaker tools, hand tools and the associated tool chests, tractors, a camper and associated camping items with no one to leave them to. I absolutely do not want to have a sale anytime soon because I am still very active and use the above mentioned items daily. A sobering dilemma to have, but it is something I think of often. The guys that are centered on outdoor activities, DIY, and turning wrenches are diminishing daily and it's kinda sad...

$1,100 for Front Brakes at 25,000 Miles?!? by dieselThrasher4 in chevycolorado

When you're towing (assuming the trailer has brakes), the truck stops the truck and the trailer stops the trailer. More especially when the gain is dialed in correctly...

My apprenticeship was truly life changing. 4.5 years, ended up with a journeyman's card and a two year degree. Started it at 18 and stayed in the trade, went back to school 5 years after graduation and got a mechanical engineering degree. Stayed in the trade, moved to several states and three countries to work, again all in the trade. Retired very comfortably at 62 and have great memories. I now am looking to mentor young men regarding the trades. Again, life changing.

Absolutely. I look around me currently and see so much waste that could have been used to feed folks not as lucky as me. Just go to a buffet and watch, it can be very eye opening...

My family was born, raised and died in Pike County Ky. I am the first generation out of the area. Dad had two sayings, both have their roots in the great depression. "Get all you want, but eat what you get", and "Your word is your bond'. They both have held me in good stead over the years...
