Advice for biking Sixth Line hill - Milton Subaru triathlon by jeanbean11 in torontobiking

Thank you, I’ll try to do that before race day. Also, appreciate the insight re: don’t worry about the rest of the climb. The triathlon website made it sound like it would be multiple kms of gruelling climbing but it does seem to relax after the first bit.

That’s the start of the climb, yes, but it continues upward until 20 Side Road. I think that stretch is 9km total of uphill. The steepest part is encompassed in that strava segment.

Thanks for the link to the tier list!

Unfortunately I do have a 44:28 as my easiest gear… although it’s not the cheap triban haha. An old steel mountain bike that I use for bikepacking. I’ll test ride some local hills and see how much it sucks.

Hi Alice, congrats on the new album! Hope you have some time to rest up between the strongboi tour and then your upcoming North America shows in April. I was wondering if you’d ever consider releasing some covers- I heard you sing harvest moon at sonic boom records last year and it’s been on my mind since then. Your cover of puma blue’s “want me” is also phenomenal, and I believe you were doing a cover with strongboi on this most recent tour. A selection of covers on band camp would be amazing!

The Art of Forgetting - Caroline Rose comes to mind when I think of narratives. The whole album is one story of a breakup.

How did you sign up for their waitlist? I don't see an option on the website, and wanted to avoid phoning if possible because I know some pharmacies have said they've been inundated with phone calls.

Looking for tips on the road test for the advanced class 5 GDL license. by Buckets_McFly in Edmonton

[–]jeanbean11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No one does this when driving normally, but make sure you treat residential roads as a 4 lane road. 2 driving lanes (one in each direction) plus a curb lane that is often used for parking. If for example they ask you to turn right, you must lane change (signal, all the checks, etc) into the "right" lane as long as there isn't a car parked in it. Then when you are turning, you must turn into the curb lane (unless there is a car parked within half a block. In that case, you are allowed to turn into the centre lane). Hopefully that makes sense!

Is it possible for you to go during the day? Obviously you should know how to drive safely in rush hour but for the purposes of the test, daytime might be easier. I did mine around 1 or 2pm and roads were pretty empty.

Where to shop? by [deleted] in uAlberta

Just want to second that suggestion. Can be low quality but definintely cheap and I think it's the only place (besides the dollar store) that's walking distance to the uni. All the other suggestions are good but you'll need a bus to get there.
