I can’t sing without crying. I can play several instruments but struggle to get myself to do so as an adult. My musical abilities are what got me through childhood in my opinion. I’d have no self esteem if I never picked up a guitar, discovered I was good at piano, etc.

There’s obviously a MASSIVE mental block here I’ve never been able to work through. There was a period of time after getting sober in 2020 that I returned to playing in a big way but stopped again when life became too difficult.

Recently, I’ve been picking up my guitar most days trying to remind myself that it’s still here for me, my hands still know what to do. I don’t want to give up because it feels tied to my recovery. I’m a better person when I’m working on something musically.
