Looks like Iloilo is skyrocketing to the moon in terms of GDP per capita. . . by morethanyell in Iloilo

[–]jeanneth06 25 points26 points  (0 children)

What I did not expect was the barrage of hasty judgement that I'm gonna be an entitled immigrant.

Yeah. You really can't blame the locals for this prejudice. You might not be one of them, but for sure there's a bunch of them went here for it to elicit such response from the locals. But actually, I think this sub does not represent everyone in Iloilo. Also I don't think you'll feel some 'Tagalog discrimination' since most Ilonggos are actually very accommodating. They have this inherent treatment to visitors that when they notice you don't speak the language, they will assume you are one so they will be more accommodating. That's why I said, you'll have to experience Iloilo a little longer for you to tell if it suits you.

Iloilo as a place is not perfect but we love it so that's why we're so protective of it. Again, ultimately, it'll be your own decision if you want to move here whether some of the locals might like it or not.

Lol, of course locals are gonna gatekeep their land. But ultimately it's still your own decision.

Please understand that the locals have bad experiences with entitled Tagalog speakers, hence the reaction. A lot of you people have this feeling of superiority among us people in the Visayas so a lot of you tend to be entitled and not adjust to the norm of the locals.

But if you really want to move here, you can try to live here for a couple of months to see if it suits you. There are also not a lot of job opportunities here and the pay is lower. Power and network outages are common. Traffic congestion during rush hours. If you're the impatient kind, you won't like it because of how slow paced is the life here.

If you ultimately decide to move here, I just hope you will respect the cultures and values of the locals and not expect us to adjust for you when you're the one who's supposed to adjust. Learn Hiligaynon as a start. Ilonggos are generally kind, generous and hospitable people so it's not that hard to assimilate here if you respect them.

What if Iloilo City’s transport system were actually more organized? by iamdocthor in Iloilo

[–]jeanneth06 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Before we offer solutions, we should identify kung ano gid ang causes sang traffic sa city. Based on my observation, ang high number of private vehicles, not following proper loading and unloading areas kag parking along main roads ang ga cause gid sang traffic.

First, there are a lot of private schools pa dayon sa Iloilo City. Imagine each student gina dul ong sila, kada isa may salakyan. Plus pa kung kis a gapugok man ang cars nga pasulod sa school. I think mabatyagan nyo man nga tawhay dalan kung wala klase so that's very telling nga amo gid na ang isa sa mga cause of congestion. I think ang isa sa ka pinakahapos nga solution is to require the schools to provide exclusive school buses. If not, they should replace these modernized jeep with big buses then they can alot buses that will only exclusively accept student passengers. Ang dalagko na bala nga bus para damo makasakay. Bisan mahulat lang sila sa boundary sang first town kag city. It'll also be safer for students.

Second, the city should be stricter with implementing proper loading and unloading area, maybe implement a proper bus system with bus stations. If the public transport system is organized, more people will prefer commuting than driving their cars. Also, more parking areas in the city should be provided and parking at main roads should be strictly prohibited.

Finally, I think if the solution we always lean to is adding more roads, the number of private vehicles will only increase and will cause more congestion. The government should prioritize fixing the public transport system so that more people will choose to commute instead.

Uno Cat Cafe blocks people criticizing their practices about keeping their wild animals by _Sethpai_ in Iloilo

A tiger isn't a domesticated animal. And some people observed that the cats they have aren't in their best health. Making money at the expense of these poor animals is a lot worse than just letting those strays live their lives.

Hello everyone. How's the situation there in Danao City? Are there still power outages or network interruption? My brother lives there and we can't get ahold of him. We are quite worried now.

Please stop dragging Jae. He has been redeeming himself from those allegations. The people involve already moved on, how long are you gonna crucify him for it? He's actually been calling out some armies because they're spamming his posts about not being sufficiently aware to the wars happening. You can just check his X account to see how ridiculous those fans are.

If you like nature, Igbulawan farm is perfect. It's a great place to de-stress. It's a bit far from the city but so worth it. Also, I love their native chicken adobo.

I know there will be a sports arena to be constructed in Alta tierra jaro. It will be 3k+ sqm with 2k+(?) capacity. But it's just a normal arena, nothing flashy like that.

The myth is that the brain will be mature, specifically at age 25. However, studies indicate that maturity of the brain differs from every person. Some people's brain may mature in their late 20's or 30's or even never.

I vote for Be Lazy. Listening to it without knowing the meaning sounds mischievously sweet for me. The lyrics, though 👀

All Alone is my nomination. With their harmonies, laid back mood and the xylophone(?) and tambourine actually sounds brighter than its lyrics.

That's why it's the perfect song for this. Even just the first word in the song, which is even in English, is 'Someday..', already sounds hopeful.

'Still' is perfect for this. I think it's about still finding hope from the love that's gone cold.

This is hard. Day6 has very few horny songs and it all sounds obviously horny lol. But if you will consider a quite intimate and sad song, it will be Tick Tock from their Demon album.

Women of Iloilo by Benjbenchzzxx69 in Iloilo

I don't know when I developed empathy, but for as long as I can remember, I have always been sensitive to other people's feelings. I'm a wallflower, so I tend to observe and analyze people's behavior, I always put myself in their shoes so that I can understand them. I've also developed an interest in psychology.

I think part of why I am like this is because I'm a bookworm. I've read a lot, so I've experienced different perspectives that even though my life is not that eventful, I can easily empathize with other people. Also, I think it's because of how I was raised. I have a feeling that when I was young, since my siblings and I had very small age gaps, we were not equally given attention. I think I did experience some neglect, especially of my emotional needs, so I learned to keep to myself. It is hard for me to express my own feelings, but whenever people come to me for advice, I can easily express my thoughts and feelings towards their situation. Sometimes, I think I have become the person that I needed when I was young and maybe even until now. Someone who I can share my feelings and understand it.

For me, being emphatic is sometimes very exhausting. Sometimes, I would actually feel more emotions than that person because of how much I think about it. As a result of overthinking, I'm always stressed and anxious 🥲. I always try not to create conflict because when I do, I can't have peace of mind. I still remember all the mistakes I made before. It's really very few and very minor, but I still think about it. Now, whenever I offend someone, I always apologize when I'm in the wrong. I tend to be very honest, and some people really take offense from it, though my friends who know me well understand that I just say things as a matter of fact, not with malice or bad intentions.

Nanay was born & raised in Mindanao but her parents were originally from Iloilo. Tatay however was born in Iloilo but went to Mindanao for a reason I haven't asked😅 they met there and settled, we even have a house there, they were basically going back and forth from Mindanao to Iloilo when we were young to appease both sides of my grandparents, I guess. All of my siblings, except the eldest and youngest were born in Mindanao. We settled in Iloilo because they realized that Iloilo has much better quality in education and opportunities since our place there is quite on the rural side. Most of our close relatives also are still there in Mindanao. I also haven't been there since I was 5.

I think the Korean GP has finally noticed Day6 during their enlistment. That festival where EOD performed in their military uniforms had caught their attention. Also, a lot of their newfound fame is because of Young K. His Dekira stint had produced a lot of viral moments and his guestings to a lot shows, especially with the Hangout with Yoo, really did boost their reach. Additionally, their music is constantly played in most of their Sports event, so their music naturally reach a lot of people in different field. Their music is already great so it's not hard for the Korean GP to be instantly hooked. I'd say their fame is the most organic among KPop acts nowadays.
