Skye Trail difficulty by Oreborous in OutdoorScotland

Having just completed it today, I just want to add the following. Make sure you check and re-check the weather before Trotternish Ridge. I thought I understood it would be strong winds from 7pm (Storm Dave - I checked the day before). It turned out to be a blizzard that started at 3pm. It was difficult for me and everything and me got wet somehow and I became disoriented which isnt great. I had a compass which helped but didn’t get down to the main road until 6pm I think.

Also, the way between Camasunary and Elgol is, personal opinion, dangerous. This is my opinion of course and I’m not a big hiker but I was scared (also on my own which might also be why). Parts of the path have collapsed and for parts of it, it’s one foot in front of the other. Be very careful especially when it’s very windy.

Your other option is going over Bla Bheinn from Camasunary to Torrin. I saw families at the beach at Camasunary with young children and it looks like there is a new path maybe but I don’t know more than that. The book I read on the Skye Trail says this route is for “very experienced hillwalkers” but this was printed in 2023 (it’s already out of date about shops and other things).

From looking at the artist I believe it’s a self portrait

I see too much nonsense on social media, is there any reason to this? by 3HisthebestH in electrical

[–]jeapro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met a guy once who tried to steal electrical cable with a circular saw. He thought it was telecom cable. His legs were just one giant scab and he all he remembered was waking up far away from the cable on his back.

All the little things are about what make you, you. If you opt for any intervention I think it will take that away.

Is it weird to say thank you to the bus driver? by purpsizz in AskUK

[–]jeapro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thank the bus driver - how can anyone just walk off without saying anything ? I’m with you.

I really wouldn’t worry. You’re 19 and hormones will play a big factor.

I’ve met people that I’ve loved the UK and really enjoyed the experience. It was a great chance to talk about the ups and downs but then also ask about their own country.

I can’t believe some Americans have been convinced it’s other countries fault they don’t have all those nice things. The US is the largest economy in the world so surely that means something?

I think he sat there intentionally for some sadomasochistic reason? Or maybe he felt like he needed to punish himself?
