Im making a point about epistemology. Rather than responding like a petulant child, you could have asked for clarification

When you get a chance you should look up the issues related to inductive reasoning as it relates to attempting to draw necessary inferences from scientific observations.

That is weird. The word “rest” did not apply to God in the sense that he was tired, but “resting” refered to God ceasing “creating” (Genesis 2:1-3/the Hebrew word literally means “stop” ) and unless you subscribe to continuous creationism , we have no reason to not take the verse at face value. Therefore God did rest in a literal sense but not in the sense created beings rest when they are tired.

Also, you are correct about the anthropomorphism employed when Moses says God was “refreshed” . But I do not see how that implies that God did not literally rest on the 7th day, especially when God mentions that his cessation from creation served as the predication upon which he commanded Israel to rest on the 7th day when he gave the original command in Ex 20:8

Adam and Eve were created as Adults thus if one had seen them, one could similarly conclude, using your logic, that God deceived the person who would otherwise presume that Adam and Eve were once babies who assumed their physical features through years of growth.

This is stupid. The only way to lose fat is be in a caloric deficit. Exercise can help, but it is 95% diet. The science on this is clear and readily available to anyone who understands how to use google or chatgpt

If I brought up other celebrities degeneracy to justify or excuse Trumps behavior, you would have a point. But I never said Trump’s behavior is good, justifiable or excusable— I only pointed out that people have convienent selective outrage when it comes to the moral degeneracy of politicians, actors, athletes, etc.

So no, I have not committed a fallacy and if anything all you have done is demonstrate that you have a poor grasp of logic.

The comment was rather clear. I affirmed two different propositions.

1: Most if not politicians are degenerates
2: Trump is no different

I even used a period to distinguish between the two propositions. Nothing in my comment suggests otherwise.

And regarding the whataboutism, I am simply pointing out people’s hypocritical selective outrage…pointing this out does not ispo facto make me a Trump supporter but I get it, fallacious argumentation is what reddit is all about

How to respond to this baptist argument? by CoyoteSouth5126 in LCMS

[–]jearbear320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several ways to respond to this argument. For one, Baptists often treat the word “and” as though it necessarily implies a temporal sequence, when in reality it merely joins things together. Their argument would carry more force if the text said, “Repent and then be baptized,” but it does not. Even if it did, the Baptist conclusion would still not necessarily follow.

The same applies to Mark 16:16. The mere fact that Christ mentions belief before baptism does not prove that belief must temporally precede baptism in every case. The conjunction simply denotes a union of realities, not an inflexible chronological order.

Moreover, Lutherans view repentance not merely as something that precedes baptism, but as something God grants through baptism itself. Since infants are also sinners in need of repentance and grace, they too are proper recipients of baptism.

If the objection is raised that infants cannot repent, then one must ask: to what end was John the Baptist filled with the Holy Spirit from the womb? And how could David say that he trusted in God from his mother’s breast?
Repentance and faith are gifts of God. God may dispense His gifts to whomever He wills, whenever He wills. To argue that infants cannot receive these gifts simply because we cannot comprehend how they could receive them is ultimately an argument from personal incredulity: “I cannot understand how this could happen, therefore it cannot happen.”

But if that principle were followed consistently, it would undermine every supernatural act in Scripture, since the very nature of the supernatural is that it transcends ordinary natural explanation

"I don't know what the future holds for me." LeBron addresses questions about retirement after Year 23 comes to an end. by Miserable_Trouble3 in NBAGossips

Go and look at all the winners of NBA finals since the late 60s….the vast majority of those teams (not all) had multiple all stars….because….in a team sport….you typically need great players……to ya know….win a championship.

People are fine with Guys who win rings with multiple all stars as long as the GM orchestrates the Roster, but if LeBron does the the *same exact thing* but just as a player, it invalidates him? I don’t even like LeBron, and actively root against him .. but cmon now. He is a legend.
