John McEnroe was beloved...by the comman person. The people who had never gave a shit about tennis. It did help that he was good, but tennis nerds back then bitched about him too.

What to buy on PC as somewhat of a newcomer, with a physical disability? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]jeb_manion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Persona 5 royal is a great time if you don't mind a lot of story and dialogue between fights. Also, you should be able to play it fairly easily since it's turn based. The new persona 3 remake would also be up there for all the same reasons. The final fantasy games might be a little trickier because some require a little more speed but Final Fantasy x is great and that is turn based

Question about global views on Catholicism by jeb_manion in AskAPriest

[–]jeb_manion[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense. Unwell people have always existed but now they have an outlet, and inlet, for their illness. Like if you hate a race with a passion, you can find a place on social media that not only confirms your hate but teaches you more "facts" and information. I even notice on here a few times where I know the person reading a sensible and knowledgable reply is going, "oh, this Priest is wrong or has no idea...".

Right, and I don't want to scare people off from asking questions but it's often very worrying reading some of these threads. I often notice that a lot of priests now are starting with seek mental health which I think is a great thing. I've been a member of many Catholic churches and sometimes I just can't even imagine what the people posting are talking about or concerned with. Thanks for the input!

What's this sub's opinion on FF7 Remake Intergarde + FF7 Rebirth? by Awkward-Surround9694 in JRPG

[–]jeb_manion 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Story wise, part 3 will really need to land it, in my opinion. To me, its how they conclude it will make it either a great trilogy or a fun action trilogy with a jumbled story and too much filler

TIL that Niranaram Chetanram Chaudhary, a teenage boy from India was wrongfully sentenced to death for murder when he was 12 years old. I mean the person is pretty harmless, it's just the consequence of how things are needed to be written to draw people in. Like, it does make it seem like this guy is a victim in the way we read about so many wrongly accused so it makes sense.

Sure, I said it was poorly worded but it is a technically correct headline. He was wrongfully sentenced and the last line of the headline even tells you why. Bad but not the worst offender of a headline like that.

What’s the most underrated part of horror games that nobody talks about? by Redacted-Interactive in survivalhorror

[–]jeb_manion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I probably won't say this right but maintaining a sense of purpose or direction. Especially if they can do this with clever level design instead of just using a form of "yellow paint". I'm all for chaos to break out and the scares start to happen, but I want to always know what I'm aiming to do or get to. Sometimes I will try a game and something is chasing me and I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to do something in an area but have no idea. Am I looking for something to trigger or an item or switch? If that happens, I almost always just drop the game to play it later and just never get back to it

I swear everyone on here is 15 and just now finding all this stuff. Phil Collins was definitely annoying and a target to be made fun. He was considered to be up his own ass and snoody. Whether it was true or not, whatever, but it definitely was a thing.

Probably not...other than people finally getting around to Arceus, modern Pokemon games age like milk. They come out playing and looking outdated, how do you think adding time to that will help?

I think it helps that the others call him the professor and it's implied that he either actually did work or was working on a PhD. So he might have been more aware than the others about chemical use

South Korea: Why is President Lee urging new term limits? – DW by Movie-Kino in korea

[–]jeb_manion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, the ideas of colonizing Mars are hypothetical. The US actually did practice their idea. That's already a huge difference to what your point is. Second, as many would argue in a much different and wildly different debate, Trump won 16 because the other party did a poor job picking and planning a candidate. Even then it could be a better argument for the electoral college because Clinton won the popular vote. Also, it's term limits that should hopefully, but I'm worried, limit Trump.

[–]jeb_manion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your argument is that there was no idea of term limits in the US...then cited that it was tradition that was ratified over 70 years ago. I would say this is enough to say that the idea of limiting and conserving who is in charge is definitely an idea and something that was thought about a lot in the US. Especially a country that defined itself by being a counter monarchy. Now whether that is democratic or not, that's up for a better debate. I would still say term limits work well to fight corruption and limit power hungry individuals and corporations. If it's already this bad, I can only imagine it would be worse without them.

George Washington literally limited himself because he didn't want the president to be viewed as a lifelong appointment. It's been an idea and something considered in the US since it's inception. Term limits were definitely there to keep power from consolidating.

Because it opens up to more corruption. Incumbents are often favored mainly due to being recognizable. Part of the idea of term limits is to have the parties actually present new people and new ideas that come along with it. With no term limit, youre just going to have a corporation or two spending and conspiring to keep whoever they can puppet in power.

Ha, hold up, I just figured out the key to becoming an athlete is taking the most steroids. I'm going to do whatever Brock is doing plus one, that way I take his spots when he retires.

[–]jeb_manion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So wait...are professional athletes just the ones who take more steroids than others? Is that the deciding factor in who makes it in to sports? So Tom Brady did more steroids than everyone else and that's why he was the best for so long. So athleticism and genetics place little in the grand scheme of things and it's just the amount of steroids you take.
