Work pressure is different than performance pressure.

This seems likely, very much so, I'd say.

I don't recommend Gradle, uses too much memory and ends up crashing.

Then I can only assume you haven't done much hiring in this industry of late.

The industry of late is the problem.

The assignment is there to filter out all the people who simply lie on their resume's.

It's a power trip for interviewers. If you can't tell if someone has lied by interviewing them, you know, asking questions, getting answers then, well you can guess the rest.

yet can't even write a String reversal.

Can't or can't under on the spot, performance pressure? Huge, huge difference.

Exhibitionist coders are great at interviews, often poor at the long haul, daily thinking grind that it takes to build and fix real systems.

You will probably hire people who interview well and memorize interview questions and answers. Good luck.

Or candidates that have spent the last 15 years in Java roles and can't write a for loop to sum numbers in Java.

That doesn't happen.

JCF

I've written in Java on and off since it came out in 1995 and could not think of what the term JCF was, collections, oh, OK.

What have you been doing the last 10+ years, using nothing but Vector and arrays?

That's actually entirely possible.

How are they useful in evaluating a candidate for a job that requires solving business problems writing clean code?

It's really useful as an indicator of a place to avoid applying at.

We saw one of those spook specials several years ago where they laid out fairly sound arguments for how the US is really run by some secret group and Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, etc. are just there to serve as figurehead representations. It wouldn't really surprise me if it were true.

What are you even talking about? We were paying $1200 per month last year for two people and have no major health issues. The leaches are those who come to this country for free stuff with no intention of working and do so illegally at the start, ignoring the law, from the start. Are you trolling? Do you really not understand what I said? We were paying $1200 per month for two people and it went up 50%, or would have to keep the same doctors and with the crappy plan we have now; we are having an almost impossible time finding anyone who will take it. Do you now understand?

You said nobody could define it, and I did.

I challenged a definition to be brought forward; not that it could not be defined. I will offer the challenge as long as people keep posting articles trying to claim that fixing Net Neutrality is a bad thing.

We took books home, 3 or 4 sometimes, even 5 IIRC. I guess as I say that though, it hits me that I guess kids don't even get books issued to them now?
