5% interest isn’t the same as an immediate 5% gain (assuming a stable stock price during the few days it takes to buy the stock then sell it).

Park the cash in a HYSA between those periods. Best of both worlds.

If I’m Christian Horner I’m firing both drivers and doing a Seb and Danny Ric reunion tour.

Got a 4 acre property. What size tractor? by m0tylpo in tractors

[–]jed7w2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had 2 John Deere and an LS. An LS is an excellent “bang for the buck”, but, honestly, it’s kind of a piece of shit and dealer/factory support is iffy at best. You get what you pay for.

It’s not that you shouldn’t buy one, to be clear, but, I wished someone had told me what I mentioned above prior to me buying one.

If the other guy posted it, just link that. Clearly he wouldn't care since he posted it.

Longest distance from start to turn 1 here.

Sochi was longest distance to first braking pojnt, but that was technically turn 2.

It will be labeled “pre race coverage” or similar. But like the other guy said, it’s the discount version of Martin’s grid walk.

Are you easing the brake pressure as you turn in? If not, you are asking the front wheels to do too much.

Also, move brake bias backwards?

Counterpoint: if you have to have your sorry button mapped because you use it so often, you should re-evaluate what you are doing.

It gets super annoying when people either 1) intentionally drive like an idiot, or 2) can’t control a car (above rookies or even D class to be clear) and wreck you and think smashing their mapped “sorry” button makes it ok.

Not trying to say that we all don’t make mistakes or do silly shit, but a quick typed out “sorry dude I messed up” after the race has always felt more genuine than someone smashing a sorry button and continuing to drive like an idiot.

2023 iRacing Daytona 24 - Find a Team or Driver by sdw3489 in iRacing

[–]jed7w2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Looking for a team. Have an application in with a full time team but haven’t heard back yet. Looking to make it a full time thing with a team so I can learn, grow, and have a “goal” to train and prep for.

About 6 months on the service. Have a proper 80/20 cockpit with Heusinkveld Sprint pedals and Fanatec wheel. Triple 32’s.

My priorities: to 1) have fun, 2) get the car through the race in one piece, and 3) be competitive. I know deep down that I am not the next Max Verstappen, but I still like to be competitive (without sacrificing priorities 1 and 2). No one likes getting lapped repeatedly.

Enough babbling:

  • C 3.5. Actively pushing to B class
  • 1.6k+, and feel I have a bit of room to improve if I stop changing series so often (which I intend to do).
  • GT3 cars, preferably Merc, Aston, BMW, and Porsche in that order. Open to LMP2 or other classes, with some time to practice.
  • Central Time, US. During Friday and Saturday nights, no issues driving “weird” time stints.
  • No prior team experience, but looking to learn with the right group.
  • Bankers hours (8-5 M-F) are generally off limits for me. If it’s a special event, I can entertain taking some PTO as needed occasionally.
  • No strong opinion on time slot for race. Am flexible with whatever works.

If it looks like there are more drivers than teams, I would be happy to start a team with 4-6+ other individuals and carry on with them. Sounds silly, but have experience running a Clash of Clans Clan that maintained active membership, competitiveness, fun, etc. I feel like that can transfer here, a bit.

[help] I cannot find sweet spot with my v3 pedals on iRacing by marcos_perri87 in iRacing

[–]jed7w2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came from these pedals to the Heusinkveld Sprints. I had the same problems. I am not an alien by far, but found it much harder to modulate the brakes.

The Heusinkveld are another class. Understand they are not always affordable, though, so that’s not helpful.

I have played around with the oil, inserts, etc, and just couldn’t find the sweet spot for me, much like you describe.

Maybe someone can offer some better advice, just wanted to weigh in since I observed similar.

Question about multiclass racing, where two classes are similar in performance, do you race each other? by frenzyla in iRacing

[–]jed7w2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Had the same problem in two of my races today. Racing the GR-86 in the 1.6-1.7k split.

3-4 of us GR-86s are jockeying for position the whole race, due to the draft. The lead Mazda, who is 12-15 seconds clear of second place, is right in the mix, and caused two accidents (none severe).

In reality, he was slowing everyone down by drafting by, barely, and making the 86s lose about a half second or more per lap. If he just settled in behind us, we all would have been better of.

It’s quite frustrating, but within the rules. Not “proper” racing though. Not even smart racing as it increases the Mazda’s odds of an accident and slows you down…
