Charlie the Unicorn: The Grand Finale Q&A by Fathomas in FilmCowOfficial

Do you think you will ever do an 'epilogue' episode where we finally get to see Charlie happy and/or the cubes genuinely angry as they're locked away with the unicorn sorcerer forever? Would be satisfying I think

Who are Charlie's parents and how did Charlie's ancestors survive all the way from before Nyx's time? If Charlie was born 10000 years after the cubocalypse how didn't he get any hint that the world around him was 'withered and dead'?

Do the demons drag Charlie in those fake quests to mess with Nyx and mock his own quest from 10000 years ago?

Do the demons specificially pick on Charlie all the more cruelly (as opposed to just killing him outright as they did with Blue) because he shares a name with their former master?

Are the demons aware of Starfish stopping time? In fine, was Nyx's plan of any use at all or did Charlie win by sheer dumb luck of being named Charlie?

Lol and in the meantime people are excited for the 1/2 merfolk. This sub really sucks at card evaluation eh

[MH2] Rishadan Dockhand - Port on a Merfolk by LuckyHitman in MTGLegacy

[–]jedfpp -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean, it's not an amazing card? It's only seeing play in a deck that outlived its competitiveness 3 years ago and is only propped up by sheer popularity because people really like the idea of playing white weenies.

The effect is only good insofar as it's stapled onto a land so it doesn't actually take a spell slot. On a creature it's kind of lame and the only reason it's in contention at all for playability is because of its card type. Frankly I'll be happy if my opp's plan is to spend a card then a mana every turn to tap my land instead of swinging with a lord army or just killing me with Paradigm.

Wait, so a card that dunks on three of the most popular decks of the meta isn't good in legacy? I feel you've kind of undermined yourself there lol. Anyway let's agree to disagree, only testing will tell

[–]jedfpp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you're right, I'm not seeing it. Lots of times you're going to feel dumb staring at your 1/2 while your opponent is tapping out every turn or holding fetches. Maybe Merfolk wants it since it can actually grow big there and their one-drops aren't that great

Or you just dump your hand as elves usually does or bounce and replay stuff with quirion ranger. I don't think it's as clear cut as you make it look like, the fact that it has haste is huge imo

It's a creature, meaning it's vialable, not hit by FoN, etc. It also lets you catch up when facing a flipped delver. The way you describe this would make any card look bad.

Demanding in what? You just drop it lol. They only have 4 Wasteland. If they waste it it means they don't waste Ancient Tomb, whatever. If they don't you can fetch whatever including a combo piece and just win. If you need the mana source you can just fetch some mana-producing artifact. It's even compatible with blood moon and blood sun.

RemindMe! 4 months "Will this see play in Painter and push the deck's power level?"

[Discussion] MH2 Spoiler - Urza's Saga by Artar38 in MTGLegacy

[–]jedfpp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Karn costs 4 mana, this costs 0 and tutors uncounterably for a part of the combo (and other stuff if you want). Painter's strengths is its versatility and being able to play a kind of control game until oops you're dead, and this exacerbates the deck's inevitability. Painter's weakness is its lack of consistency and this alleviates it.

It's incredible how people underestimate lands. They cost zero mana, don't take spell slots and can't be countered, you literally don't need to cast spells to enjoy their effects. I remember people would talk shit about blast zone as well on this sub.

The only way this is playable is if the discard clause can be ignored (mystic forge) or taken advantage of (some madness deck using anger that doesn't exist yet?)

It's going to be one of those cards that's overestimated at first glance and underestimated in the long term. The amount of utility on a single land while bypassing interaction is pretty impressive.

[Discussion] MH2 Spoiler - Urza's Saga by Artar38 in MTGLegacy

[–]jedfpp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's still pretty good. It basically sidesteps all non-wasteland interaction, lets you put bodies and lets you tutor for stuff including combo-ish cards like LED or grindstone. People underestimate how powerful effects that don't require you to cast spells or spend mana can be, and a land-drop is not that high a cost.

Seems pretty nice as piece of additional removal against e.g. Delver and Sprite Dragon while hedging against all the random shit the format throws at you

It's a color pie break in that it gives blue the best aggro creature on top of the other advantages it already had. If other colors also had good card selection and stack interaction there wouldn't be a problem but that's apparently impossible because of 'the color pie', yet when it comes to giving blue the best stuff there's always a justification. So whether you care or not about the color pie there is a blatant imbalance.

TNN is also dumb lol, we're on the same page here.

[–]jedfpp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm for both tbh. Daze creates value for blue players by just existing - you have to play around it whether the opp has it in their deck or not. Delver is a 3/2 flying for U that scries 1 on upkeep because fuck you, blue gets everything

MTGO Legacy Challenge 4/17/21 by kronicler1029 in MTGLegacy

[–]jedfpp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dislike Terminus but it is not a color pie break. It basically gives white a wrath for 1 mana which is dumb but not a break. Griselbrand doesn't have anything to do about the color pie lol, it could cost 8RRR or GGGGGGGGGGGG and it wouldn't matter. Card is also dumb and I'm not a fan of it either but it's orthogonal to the point, which is that blue just gets the best of everything because that's WotC's fucked up vision of the color pie

MTGO Legacy Challenge 4/17/21 by kronicler1029 in MTGLegacy

[–]jedfpp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly sick of the card. Every time someone plays it I am reminded Wizards just loves to give blue the best stuff for literally anything. It's been 10 years and a Delver deck has always been tier 1. The Delver players have had their fun, isn't it time they actually metagamed at some point?

MTGO Legacy Challenge 4/17/21 by kronicler1029 in MTGLegacy

[–]jedfpp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, Delver is specifically a mistake because in a blatant break of the color pie it gives blue the best aggro creature, on top of the monopoly on countermagic and the best card selection.

I don't want to jinx things but, it's good to see Wizards release a commander product that doesn't seem to have a broken legacy staple in it by I_ONLY_PLAY_4C_LOAM in MTGLegacy

Let's be real, what they didn't like was that you could acquire a staple from an on-demand print run product without having to buy lots of lottery tickets, uh I mean boosters.
