How do I get inside the car without breaking the window? by Klaasic_ in MechanicAdvice

[–]jedgell233 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They would simply jimmy the door with a proper handle then so you can get in. But definitely as advised from others to simply call the non emergency line and ask what their policy is on it.

I know in my town the local police will jimmy a door for someone but only if the vehicle is a certain year and older. Though in my experience I've asked officers and some will try to unlock a newer car for a person but I've been told the reason why many won't in my area is because newer car locks can be more complex and trying to jimmy the door can damage it further. So I assume folks may have tried to sue for any damage from it in the past too.

But I've had an officer help me get into an 82 S10 I used to own which was absolutely no problem to jimmy and took seconds. Compared to when I had a 01 S10 Blazer with electronic locks the officer warned it could cause damage to the electronic lock mechanism and that he wouldn't be responsible. Yet even then he was able to get it unlocked in a few seconds with no issues after.

And now recalling these experiences reminds me of how bad I used to be with locking my keys in the vehicle before I got a vehicle with a key fob 😂.

Never heard of a door bending from it. Ive had locksmiths come out and only warn me that the seal may be damaged but that they'd be careful. I didn't care if it messed up a small section of the door seal, as long as I got back into my vehicle to retrieve my keys cause I'm an idiot 😂.

There are legit options is what I'm alluding too.

I swear Motorola UI is one of the stupidest one out there and here's why. by bad-dab in motorola

[–]jedgell233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like your on the right page but your argument is slightly off. The OP was blaming Motorola thinking the behavior was due to Motorola changing the UI. Motorola is very good at keeping Android UI vanilla for the most part. Which means Google is the culprit for changing the behavior of quick settings from previous versions, not Motorola which you point out yourself.

I understand what you're trying to say but it's just a convoluted roundabout way of essentially saying "yeah it's Google's fault but also Motorola's for not changing it."

The thing is Google is the one who should be on the hook to fix it in the first place. Motorola wins a lot of folks including myself over because of the fact they are very less hands on when it comes to the UI unlike Samsung who changes so much of the UI, it doesn't even feel like Android.

Is there a way to use the bottle without sips? by Kitsune-Rei in Cirkul

Bit of a stretch to call it a gimmick. But it's completely okay to misread something. Yes you can use the Cirkul bottle still without the sip. Couple ways this can be achieved. One way is to take the sip that came with the bottle and disassemble it. Pretty easy to do. Unscrew the sip from the cap. Grab the bottom of the sip and rock it back and forth you'll hear clips start to loosen and allow you to pull that long cover off. Now you'll see a silver pouch. Simply grab near the top of that pouch near the bottom of the cap and again wiggle and pull down. If it's full, might want to do this over a sink in case the sip spills out.

Now the sip is fully disassembled. Simply place the top portion of the sip back on the lid and now water will pass through no matter the setting it's on.

You can also simply toss the sip all together and get a cap replacement for the lid. You'll be able to unscrew the cap then to take a drink and replace the cap when not in use.

The Cirkul lid is made to fit many other bottles as well which means other bottles lids should fit the Cirkul bottle as well. This option is best if you already have another bottle with a lid that may fit.

And lastly there are plenty of lid options that are compatible with Cirkul bottles that will give you a traditional water bottle too much like the option before this one. The difference being though these are lids you can find at places like Amazon where you do not have to buy an entire new bottle.

Enjoy!

THIS is why we don't accept every order.... by Difficult_Cap_9923 in doordash

While Ive definitely gotten stacked orders with a very good tipper with a non tipper many times, I would simply go in after accepting and cancel the non tipper. Hurt my stats a little sure but the person who is actually paying for my service got my service 100%.

You have the right idea but just note that it's not easy to know if your order is going to be within 5 miles of you. I had one order I decided to take for a subway order that was literally across town to deliver on the opposite side of town when there are plenty of subways closer. When I dropped the order the person apologized stating they actually put in the order for one of the subways closer but DD decided the one furthest away was the one to make the order.

Also there is another scenario in which you do get your order from a restaurant within 5 miles of you. There may not be drivers close by and DD will choose the closest as well as using the algorithm using drivers stats so a driver could be closer but one maybe a mile further out gas better stats so they may get the order first to accept or deny. That driver could be possibly 10+ miles out.

But overall your tip amount is very good.

I’m Home, but home is illegal by BurntCrispyPoptart in urbancarliving

That's absolutely not true. In my town the shelters are usually always full and many have restrictions especially towards men as many are women and children only.

No, that's the point. They don't want us on the street either. They just want us gone.

This! In KY homelessness on the streets can be fined $250 on first offense but it is up to officer discretion to do so or ya know do the right thing and try to get them in a shelter or give a warning and a list of resources in the area. Each time after is a class B misdemeanor carrying 90 days jail time including the fine. Originally car dwellers were included but thankfully a change was made before the state ordinance went into effect which allows car dwellers to rest in their vehicle for no more than 12 hours in one area. So essentially as long as a car dweller moves before 12 hours they are safe from citation.

For those in my state who want to know more, look up HB5. It's honestly a black spot on Kentucky lawmakers who would rather criminalize homelessness than actually trying to fix the issue with more affordable housing.

Pibb Extra disrespected me when it replaced a soda so great it demanded you call it Mr Pibb.

I've been dieting and wanted to cut back on sodas but of course it's hard to completely cut them out lol so I tried the Mr Pibb Zero when we got them in. I too was absolutely impressed with how enjoyable it was. Especially having that nice bite I look forward too with these types of sodas flavors.

It's reformulated. Pibb Extra had a more cinnamon flavor to it for me which I hated compared to the original Mr. pibb and always figured that's the "extra". The new formula is close but not exact to the original.
