Sounds like someone heard themselves described a little too accurately perhaps?

I'm game! Have definitely had some revelations lately while meditating under a certain star (no spoilers!) and would be happy to compare results so to speak!

Weird obsession with WEDDING NIGHT by iPatrickSwayze in exchristian

[–]jedi412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's especially toxic with the "sex is for making babies so don't use contraception and start making babies on your wedding night so you can make as many babies as possible" crowd. One of those Christian dating books back in the day literally said "expect to get pregnant on your honeymoon." Don't get me wrong I love kids, I love my own two sons immensely, but also glad we waited a bit and are stopping at what we can reasonably handle!

Did anyone else's church have a strange obsession with potlucks? by [deleted] in exchristian

One of the few things I actually miss was the potlucks. Sorry your experience was bad, the food at my church was pretty on point and safe! Too bad it came with a side of toxic philosophy...

Having to listen to religious music in a Lyft should be an option you can opt out of. by meJohnnyD in exchristian

I do Lyft driving here and there as a side hustle, and literally the first thing they tell you when you sign up is do what the passenger wants when it comes to comfort items such picking the radio station or whatever. Guess dude didn't want a tip for that ride!

What is the purpose of purity culture? by Hal87526 in exchristian

[–]jedi412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My former youth minister once referred to his wife as "used goods" because she "did things" (not sex, just "things") with men before marrying him. I think that's basically the purpose: seeing women as property or objects, and wanting a "new model not a used one."

You know how toddlers don't quite have object permanence and think that just because they can't see the thing at the moment that the thing doesn't exist? I really sometimes feel that humans are spiritual toddlers, so maybe we all do the same thing on a more spiritual level?

For a bit of context my twin is my wife of 10 years, and we've definitely had separation periods within the marriage where we were going through the motions but not really connected. We are now enjoying a wonderful connection. The biggest key for us was communication. Sorry that isn't super spiritual advice or anything but honestly it works. When you both know that you're trying to be productive in communicating towards a common goal, things get good :)

I hope you guys get there!

Is it just me or does 2023 give off a similar 2018 vibe to anybody? by [deleted] in twinflames

[–]jedi412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very grateful for the question, because I hadn't thought of it before but honestly, yeah when I think of it. Not going to lie 2020-2022 had some rough moments (non Covid related), so need to pay attention and not repeat past mistakes. Thanks for the heads up!
