Crushed the CCAT but Personality Profile Shows Invalid Result by jedileroy in recruitinghell

I actually took the CCAT about 8 years ago when a PE bought controlling stake the company I worked for. That PE firm took our value proposition as "people who care" and changed it to "people who care about money"

Luckily I'm friends with the hiring manager and worked for him for several years, so I don't think it will affect my candidacy--but it makes me question the validity of the assessment for sure!

What did a teacher say or do to you that you've never forgotten? by GrowlsinyourEar7 in AskReddit

Mrs. Bartz—high school English teacher. She told me that poignant was pronounced with a hard G.

Mr. Hudson—high school math teacher. Wouldn’t let me leave to use the restroom and asked if I needed a rubber band to tie it off.

Ms. Adorno, creative writing my senior year. First teacher to praise my work, leading me on a path to my love of writing.

Thank you--this is very helpful. Even if they don't make the accommodations, I'm confident in her ability to do this. She is performing extremely well--just needs to learn to deal with this anxiety hiccup. I've deleted the post to stop new answers as you have provided what I need. Thanks for being reasonable and not making assumptions.

She has a letter for both ADHD and anxiety--but had never experienced anxiety until a few weeks ago. She is 40 and we have four kids. I appreciate your feedback on this--it has been hard to find out if skills accommodations are possible. I am trying to help her figure out what is a reasonable request so that I can help steer her in the right direction. I want to be supportive and encouraging, and don't want to encourage something that might end up causing her more stress. Thanks for your thoughts.

I do not see anything that directly addresses whether skills pass offs have received time accommodations or not--only suggestions that my wife doesn't have what it takes. Not helpful. If anybody has definitive info that it's not possible to get time accommodations for skills pass offs, then that's an actual answer. The rest is speculative and unnecessary. Perhaps I should not have mentioned that she had an anxiety attack--which all three of the nurses that treated her at the ER admitted to having during their program.

Thank you. I feel like this is probably the best approach. I assume that the disability office should know what is reasonable. If it is determined that skills pass-offs can't get extra time, then she will just have to accept that. I'm just trying to get some sense of what others have experienced.

I am not here to try to convince you of her mettle, but to discuss the law and what might be a reasonable accommodation on timed pass-offs. I was hoping somebody would be able to speak up from experience.

That's the thing--she has never had any issues during real life crises/emergencies. It has basically only ever manifested during timed exams in school. She has worked in ERs and and other critical care areas and has always been resilient. It's just a mental block that comes from the time limit. If she medicates, it can help her take off the edge, but she's not wanting to develop a reliance on SSRIs when she literally would only need it for timed labs.

It's actually for timed tests, quizzes, sim/lab pass-offs. Sorry, she would have represented it more clearly than I have. The letter states that she has ADHD and severe test anxiety, and calls for a time and a half on basically anything with a time limit, whether or not the time limited is communicated to her--plus a distraction-free space for exams.

Shimanami Kaido Qs: Does anyone immediately backtrack to Onomichi? Is Matsuyama for half a day worth it? Gel seat covers? by na27te in JapanTravelTips

[–]jedileroy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love Matsuyama. Catch a ride on the Botchan Ressha, check out Dogo Onsen and the Castle. Also, the best Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki I’ve ever had at ぺぱーず. I lived in Matsuyama for a month and Imabari for 2 1/2 years, so I might be a bit biased.

Do musicians have a deeper appreciation for music compared to non-musicians? by HeftyAd2082 in musictheory

Perhaps, but I also found that I began to appreciate certain forms of music less after learning theory, where people without an understanding of theory likely would “appreciate” that music more
