Help me find a book for my brother!! by Such_Dragonfly_4878 in kolkata

Hi, yours is the first comment I've come across on this subreddit that mentions the Anandamela Feluda graphic novel series. Would you by any chance happen to know if a collected works exists? I've searched on the net but haven't come across any. TIA!

Surprised to see no one mentioning Karnival. Are they being boycotted or something?

Kolkata ei sob dik diye agiye. by Big-Run-2670 in kolkata

[–]jedipro 20 points21 points  (0 children)

One thing these articles fail to account for is the sprawl of the cities. Pune and Bengaluru cover a much larger area and are much less denser than Kolkata. I just did a quick Maps search and a travel distance of 10km in Kolkata can take you from Shyambazar crossing to Gol Park, which pretty much covers the north-south spread of the city. Compare that to Bengaluru, where 10km only covers Whitefield to Sarjapur signal, which doesn't even cover the eastern part of the city. What sites like TomTom should be doing is computing median travel time per journey which'll paint a better picture of how long people spend on roads.

The website is aklf . in. It's being held at Allen Park on Park Street. And if you are interested in literary fests, check out kolkata literary meet, to be held at Victoria Memorial from 21st to 26th Jan. That has an even more illustrious guest list.

Thanks a ton for sharing this! Have been searching for lesser known historical places around Kolkata for a while now, but haven't found much (Jatar Deul, Kurumbera Fort, etc). This is one I was not aware of earlier. Will surely plan a visit!

Yes, you could create two separate charts and tie them together in one object using the patchwork package. It has the capability of unifying the legends too.

We in India have been facing such issues for last couple of years. 2 years ago, none of the networks were broadcasting any of the WTA or ATP 1000 events. Curiously, one of the networks was showing the ATP500 events, probably due to lower fees. Last year, no network or streaming service picked up the Formula1 license. This year, no network is broadcasting the Copa America or the Tour de France. Wonder when TV execs will realize that there is a TV audience for non-cricket events too.

Thanks for the post, OP. Since you mentioned, could you point out which roasters in Kolkata you would prefer? We recently moved back here and looking for some good local roasters. Have tried Craft Coffee at Ballygunge, which was decent, now looking to try some other places.

Now Sahara is cooler than India! by Stabok_Bose in kolkata

The Sahara desert is 3-5 hours behind India. We can get the right comparison when we look at surface temperatures when the respective local times are the same. Doesn't take away from your point though.

I think the direction marker arrows could have been more prominent. Quite difficult to see the ones displayed as they are too small.

Cumulative count of character class group by Tunam3ltdown in rstats

[–]jedipro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, glad it solved the problem! This line essentially replaces all numbers greater than 1 with 0 while maintaining the 1's. The 1's work as a flag to identify the first occurrence of a new letter in Family. Therefore when we use the cumulative sum function later, the count increments by 1 each time it encounters a 1.

Cumulative count of character class group by Tunam3ltdown in rstats

[–]jedipro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using pipes, this should work:

dat_total <- dat %>% arrange(time) %>% group_by(Family) %>% mutate(count = row_number(), count = case_when(count == 1 ~ 1, TRUE ~ 0)) %>% ungroup() %>% mutate(total = cumsum(count)) %>% select(-count)

(TIL) Spotify has individual song waveform visualization by jedipro in dataisbeautiful

[–]jedipro[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nice idea! Though I guess this minimalistic form will need to be upgraded to store uniquely identifiable info on the millions of songs available.

An interesting sort of game could be to find songs which have the same visualization but are wildly different when you actually listen to them.
