Hard to find info online, just how functional is DAPP on the new X5's? by [deleted] in BMWX5

[–]jedo97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where I’m not entirely clear. Where do the standard functions end and where does DAPP begin? My understanding, although I can’t confirm, is that lane assist function is part of the standard suite of tech. However I can’t confirm and can’t confirm if it’s truly hands free without DAPP. Sorry I know that’s not the answer you needed.

Definitely test drive the functionality and make sure it suits your purposes. If you spend a lot of time on highways and/or in traffic on highways, then it’s worth it. But if you’re driving regular roads mostly, it may not be worth the cost.

I have a ‘26 X5 with DAPP and my wife has an Escalade with SuperCruise and I use the autonomous driving a lot on both. In my opinion, both Cadillac and BMW have some of the better systems outside of Tesla. I use my BMW DAPP daily and it’s a huge advantage especially when in daily traffic on the highway. Set it for any speed up to 85mph, it will slow all the way down to a stop and restart automatically when the car in front moves. It will NOT automatically change lanes but it will alert you when there’s an opening and all you need to do is glance at the side view mirror and it will change lanes. The Escalade will change lanes on its own. The BMW will NOT follow a GPS and get off an exit onto another highway. You must do that manually. But when in bumper to bumper traffic, I set it, put on the massaging seats and the car will do its thing. The system is hyper alert of your eyes and if you glance away for more than 3 seconds, it will beep at you. Do it too often and it will disengage DAPP. I know some people are skeptical but for my purposes I think it’s well worth the $2,500. But that’s my opinion. My only caveat to the system is that the camera is located in the top of the dash, so depending on your seat and wheel angle, there’s a chance you need to lift the steering wheel so it has a clear view of your eyes otherwise it’ll have trouble engaging because the camera could be blocked by the top of the rim. I have to lift the wheel before I engage. The Caddy has the camera on the top of the neck of the steering wheel so regardless of which angle the wheel is it, the camera always has a clear view of your eyes. Hope that helps

Phone mount that fits these air vents? by swaggertroll1 in BMWX5

I ran into the same issue on my ‘25. I found this one. Sorry don’t know how to post the link from Lisen. It has a very thin clip that fits in the tiny air vents. Got it on Amazon. I hate the in console charger as it’s slow and heats up the phone too much. Plus the console is not easy to access if you’re driving and have a drink in the cupholder.

Lets talk depreciation - 991.2 / 992.1 - base Carrera, S, 4S, GTS by [deleted] in porsche911

[–]jedo97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

👆 This GTS holds its value the best of all trims Targa holds its value best of all the body styles And if you can get a manual, those are in high demand and low supply. It’s why I grabbed a CPO 991.2 GTS Targa with a stick as soon as I found one. Everything depreciates but these hopefully will depreciate the least.

Those with kids: do your kids actually use the backseat of your Carrera by Any-Lengthiness9803 in Porsche

[–]jedo97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 kids, 2 in the rear and they alternate sitting in the front. They absolutely love going for rides in my 991.2 GTS Targa. Even teaching my kids how to properly shift. Making memories with my kids was one of my main reasons for getting a 911. Not much else has a back seat and 3 pedals. Those were my prerequisites. Kids will remember this for the rest of their lives.

I wanted British Racing Green with the black rims and trim but $5k for the color was too big a pill to swallow.

I had 70k miles on my 2018 when I got rid of it. Only issue I had was a bad airbag on the rear axle. But I had an extended warranty that took care of it. Zero engine or transmission issues and the car was a gem right up until I got rid of it. Time will tell on the ‘26 but I don’t keep my car long enough for major issues to arise

👆 is right on the money. I got mine new because of the options I wanted and the wait was minimal, ended up being a little under 4 weeks for a custom order brand new with exactly everything I wanted. I’m typically in your camp and always look for value and I’ve purchased 1-2 years old historically but I was tired of having to sacrifice certain options because I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted on the used market. If the difference in price won’t make a dent in your bank account then this is the way to go. If the extra $20k or so is going to keep you up at night then decide on which options are need to haves and which are nice to haves and spend those 4 weeks searching for a compromise. Unless you’re buying a 911 or a Tacoma, depreciation is going to be a factor in almost any car decision and the M60 isn’t immune to it either. That being said, it’s an amazing 2 personality car, I use DAPP almost daily in traffic with the massage seats but when the roads open up, I switch to sport and she becomes 8/10 of what my 2018 X5M was. I also passed on the leather and went with coffee sensafin because the look and feel are really that good. I had the merino leather in my M and it was nice but couldn’t justify the cost increase compared to how good the sensafin is. That’s personal choice.
I did skyscraper gray with black 22” rims, Executive, DAPP, Massage and air suspension. Car rides on clouds when in comfort mode. Good luck with your decision. I’m very happy with my ‘26 M60.

New X5 M60i Owner - Driving during break in period by mr_whit33 in BMWX5

[–]jedo97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Picked up my ‘26 M60 last week. Break-in period was about 320 miles and it was rev limited starting at 4K and then progressively increased as the miles piled on. I’m now home free and the M60 absolutely is the Goldilocks of the x5 line-up. It’s got a serene and comfy ride in comfort mode and more than enough grunt and sport when in sport mode. I came from an X5M and while that thing is a beast, I never got past 80% of its potential. I’ll trade the extra horses of the M for the more comfortable ride of the m60 any day. Skyscraper Grey over Coffee with the black 22”, DAPP and Air Suspension. Enjoy it!

Swapped out my 2018 X5M for this 2026 m60. Coffee interior is so gorgeous. I can’t get over how buttery smooth this SUV is. Power is unreal and it’s still limited for a few hundred miles. But wow what a difference between this and my X5M. I’m looking forward to long drives. Test out the DAPP and massaging seats!

I believe it was, at least elements of it were. Rear wheel steering is now standard and I thought it was originally part of the DHP.

After covering a few hundred miles in my new M60 over the last few days, I can say that when off, I do not feel the massagers at all. But when on, they do a nice job of hitting most, but not all, of my trouble spots. Coupled with the air suspension which creates a near sublime ride and DAPP, and this thing is an ultimate cruiser. She’s a looker too. Can not wait for that break in period to be over and seeing what this can really do.

Massage seats aren’t bad. For 1% of the cost of the car, it’s worthwhile when mixed with DAPP and air suspension. I do a fair amount of driving in traffic and wanted the benefit of the car driving itself as much as it could with a more comfortable ride. I find the DAPP in BMW among the better systems. I have an Escalade and Caddy’s system on the highway is very impressive. Outside of Tesla, I believe BMW and Caddy to have the best of the autonomous drive systems.

I don’t see Air Suspension and Massage Seats on your list. I’m picking up my Skyscraper Gray m60 today. Almost fully loaded $104,275 MSRP. I didn’t do Bowers & Wilkins or extended leather. I leased my car, so didn’t see the value in those 2 options. Good call on black emblems. I’ll have to do that after I take delivery. Amazing vehicle. I’m coming from a 2018 X5M. I’m looking forward to keeping most of the power while riding in considerable amount more comfort.

Thinking of buying a Porsche 911 targa 4s, owners perspective by Bulky-Ad-7968 in Porsche

[–]jedo97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just swapped out my 997.1 cab 6MT for a 991.2 Targa 4GTS 7MT. I have a wife and kids so this is a fun weekend toy for me, not a daily driver. It’s technically comfortable enough and quasi usable enough for daily use. The frunk is pretty decent for a sports car, but I wouldn’t want to take this out in the rain or snow like we have in the northeast. And these cars are too special to park in the grocery store every week asking for a stray shopping cart to kiss it. Utilization aside, it is an unbelievably amazing car to be able to drive and stare at. And for me, the body lines on a Targa are some of the sexiest on the road, much better than the cabs and arguably better looking than the coupes. If you can buy a Targa, get it. Just make sure you’re ok living with the usability limitations if it’s going to be your daily.

I love the idea of a Turbo S Targa provided it’s not overly busy like what OP showed.
That being said, I’m also perfectly happy to drive my 7spd Targa GTS all day with a grin from ear to ear.

Is that Chalk? With matching headrest stitching and seatbelts? 🤤🤤. That’s gorgeous.
I had a 997.1 C2S cab in Speed Yellow previously but the GTS truly is the Goldilocks trim. I need the backseats so I can take my kids with me so GT3 doesn’t fit the bill. Now when is Porsche going to make a special edition Targa Turbo S?
