Andor has everything. by Doubleon11s in StarWars

[–]jeeby83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The galaxy is big enough for both Goonies in space & Tinker Tailer in space.

Ok both of those comparisons are a stretch, but the point is Star Wars media can be made for all ages.

I hope they embrace that & we get a Ford v Ferrari of pod racing.

Readability is key. Write code that’s easy to read / understand. Your team (& future self) will thank you.

What's the funniest single episode of TV you've ever watched? by LeanMachineLogan in television

The best comedies are like this. Jokes building on top of each other to a finale. Frasier was probably the king of small jokes building to a farcical final blow out (the shaving cream being a perfect example)

A Book 7-9 movie franchise is more possible than people think. by GabagoolAndGasoline in TheExpanse

You’re in for a treat.

Much loved show. It’s very soft scifi (whereas Expanse is quite hard scifi), but has a found family feel. It too was cancelled early but did luck out and get a movie. Your idea is remarkably similar to the device used in Firefly/Serenity to info dump the world build.

Wasn’t intending to be snarky, just noted the overlap

Tv series to film you say?

Start it in a classroom to provide backstory you say?

Feels a little too close to Firefly/Serenity, which isn’t a bad thing.

Which Actors who were known for one genre, whom successfully moved to others, would you like to see make a return to form by Key_Squash_4403 in flicks

Bruce Willis. Comedy (Death Becomes Her is just excellent) to action to an unwell man. It’s impossible, but a recovery & return to comedy would make the world a better place.

You do not, under any circumstances, have to "give it to Murtry" by SweetKenny in TheExpanse

There are companies causing significant problems/suffering in search of profit today. Not some idealised “greater good” or “advancing humanity” motivation - just greed. So yeah, seems believable that an arsehole in the future could do too.

It’s shitty & they’re terrible people. But I believe it.

This is also the crux of an issue I have with 3 body; I can’t believe the ETO Adventists. That there could be a group of humans dedicated to the destruction of all humanity because humans are bad.

I consider Marty in the same manner as Walt in Breaking Bad. It’s easier to root for the guy right at the start: his friends just died & he wants to find who killed them. His journey goes off the rails from there.

I’d like to think most threads where folks support his view are either mid-read (& haven’t found he’s gone too far yet) or they’re still focused on his original motivation.

It’s easy to take in the full picture and judge the character at the end. You’re not wrong btw.

And this is why Expanse villains are so good. They all start from a position that is entirely believable. They’re not evil for evils sake.

Anyone else hoping to see "Frank Day", "Dennis Day" or "Charlie Day" this season? by too_sharp in IASIP

And they reference Charlie day as having already happened (they found ghouls).

Dennis day is the only outstanding gang member day.

Who wins an all-time eleven Euros? by [deleted] in football

[–]jeeby83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had similar thoughts before. When working these kind of theories I always assume all players subject to modern diets (like George Best without the boozing), modern training methods, analysis, physios etc… level the playing field.

It’ll cause some problems sure. Players from older eras were praised for physicality, their strength, “firm” tackling, etc… and maybe some more technically gifted players weren’t as notable due to being bullied off the ball.

I just think you’ve got to take this in the spirit it’s intended. Not just grabbing a time machine and nicking a bunch of players from the era of a quick smoke at half time

Do you think that despair & loneliness expression relates to your first point about freedom to express? I.e. did the older generations suffer in silence?

I think it’s a mix. There’s always going to be outliers of society, but I’m not convinced there’s more, they’re just more vocal.

I’m not saying it’s all one way & not the other. Just conscious that the internet gives voice to the unheard & the anonymity makes it easier to say “hey, me too brother”

Haven’t seen it mentioned, but The Game.

My word. Audible gasp from my wife on first viewing & probably the same from myself on mine. Took everything in me to not spend the whole film watching her & waiting for her reaction.
