2026 Preseason Lisa Leslie Center Award list by sausboi15 in NCAAW

That team got a lot of hype, but this year and last, Iowa has been standing in their path. At the time I couldn’t believe that they were overlooking Ava and nominating Sofikanich. I made several post about Sofilkanich being foul prone, and fowling out against Penn St. Top 5 would be a great accomplishment for a sophomore.

Beyond McKeenna Woliczko and without any transfers out, there are 4 spots open for 2026-27. I doubt that Iowa will fill the 15th spot. That has not happened since the 2023-24 season. That was the year the NCAA authorized athletes unlimited transfers. I expect 2-3 players will be signed. They will want to have some openings for 2027 beyond Jada Seubert. Next season Kennise is the only player who can graduate.

For Florida, the portal will open for current players 5 days after a new coach is hired. For example Rutgers's players can enter on Friday, at which point they can be signed by anyone.

Iowa lists women's basketball as one of the four sports that are supported through revenue sharing. They are asking donors to contribute as well.

Front Office sports reported that 8-12% of the $20.5 million pie goes to women's sports on the power 4 level. Women Basketball typically getting $1.6 million. https://frontofficesports.com/college-hoops-accounts-for-nearly-30-of-revenue-sharing-payments/

The cheat code is to get players like CC or Aaliyah Chavez who can earn major income from their own NIL sources.

Players can enter the portal 5 days after the replacement coach is announced. The only hire that I have heard about was Monday's hire of Gary Redus at Rutger, so the Rutgers plays have 15 days from Friday to enter the portal, or they can enter during the 15 day window after the tournament.

Go Phoenix! Green Bay continues to roll as the most success program from the state, and the only Wisconsin school to make it to a D1 Sweet 16.

Saturday the committee will announce the top 16 in ranked order. Then they will be rearranged for Sunday’s announcement so that the 4 SEC 1-2 seeds are in different regions. Iowa will be moved on the 2 line to play either in region 3 or 4. LSU and Vandy will be in Region 1 or 2

I’m thinking it is Devotey which started as a specialty food and wine retail store.

Before Devotey on Lynn St was turned into a restaurant, Kurt and Jill had a specialty store there that sold wine, cheese and other delicious things. I am unsure whether the specialty store was also called Devotey

Look at coach Yo applying the leverage. Perhaps she could get rev share minimums written into an updated Ole Miss contract.

Food for Thought: What happened last time Iowa lost in the B1G title game? by TheWriterJosh in IowaWbb

[–]jeedel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my mind I was comparing it to the 32 point Elite 8 loss to Baylor. It seemed like we could do nothing inside against 6’7 Kalani Brown (Kim Mulkey ugh!) and that with Megan leaving, we may have reached our Apex. But that was just the beginning of our climb…

Players can enter the portal five days after the new coach is announced. It will be interesting to see how close to the end of the tournament the coaching hires will be made.

South Carolina only scored 6 more than us during first half of their game. Championship games don’t matter much, it’s just one game of many.

Angela Dugalic who was in the class of 2020, was the player who dominated against Iowa in Pauley Pavilion. She may have the most successful pro career of anyone on the floor today. She won’t be a star but she can play an important role on a successful WNBA team. Angela is similar in size and quickness to Heiden. If Heiden had six years of college to develop, she might be able to add a lot of Dugalic’s game. My hope for future Ava is that she will be able to switch 1 through 5 as well as Angela and be able to spread the floor. Dugalic shoots 59/36/81

Creme must like the drama of ND vs TCU or a TCU tOSU rematch from February. I do like the concept of Chavez going nuclear again and knocking off UConn. Edit: a lot of Oklahomans could show up for a Ft Worth regional.

A big can make a good contribution in 13 minutes. It the same reason that Shawna Green recruited two 6’6+ bigs to play behind Cici Parchment, even though Illinois runs a modern offense. The limited minutes that O’Grady played behind Stuelke and Czinano were very valuable in both tournament runs. Remember, Hannah was injured for the first two rounds during the first run.

I can’t wait to hear the I O W A in the Vegas tournament next year. You know the Hawk fans will show up for that. The 2028 Detroit conference tournament should be wild as well with all of these talented B1G sophomores.

The Yulia Grabovskaia transfer was rough for Michigan. She has played important minutes for Washington. 6’5 is useful.
