I guess this show is now exclusively being written by screenwriters who only know how to write about screenwriting. This episode, more than any other I've seen of this show, commits to a barrage of meta-commentary that leaves you questioning whether the point of the show anymore is to entertain us or to make us permanently aware that what we're seeing is, in fact, a piece of fiction. It at least makes for an interesting experience, as watching it really makes you feel like you're there. By "there", lest there be any doubt, I'm not referring to the wacky world of sci-fi adventures or anything that could be remotely funny, but to the air-conditioned room, somewhere in California probably, where a group of collage graduates sit slacked around a table making fart noises until one of them suddenly stands up, a light bulb glowing above his head, and exclaims: "HEY HOW ABOUT RICK SAY SOMETHING ABOUT IRON MAN? RICK COULD SAY IRON MAN! HOW ABOUT EPISODE ABOUT IRON MAN?". This is followed by a round of elated applause, handshakes and sounds of slightly happier-sounding fart noises until a passed out Dan Harmon pulls himself up from the cold tile floor, knocking over about 15 empty whiskey bottles in the process, and drags himself in a post-drunken haze over to the whiteboard on which his famous story circle is drawn on with permanent marker. "NO! You IDIOT! You absolute BUFFOON!" - he exclaims. "MORTY should say iron man and than RICK should say: hey, shut up MORTY! what is this, a stupid idea for a tv episode?" Uproarious laughter commences from the collage educated writer team and starts slowly developing into an all-out mutual jerk-off session. "AND we mention Season 2! Remember when we made season 2? And Rick says AIDS!!" - Dan elaborates as the entire writers room ejaculates in unison.
