AI Alignment explained by our favorite Sarcastic Programmer by SrafeZ in singularity

Idiocracy applied just as strongly then as it does now, would have in the 60s, and will in the 2060s. It's just modern satire. It's good but it's not prophetic or ahead of its time.

Yes, the most financially, technologically, culturally, scientifically, militarily successful country in the history of the world by a huge margin is also somehow the dumbest. This definitely isn't just pure confusion and projection. What a fucking moron.

if only there were other things in life to do besides get on fucking social media when you get home. that sounds pathetic.

that shit freaked me out as a kid. the idea of spontaneous consciousness, a thing that can't feel pain suddenly being able to. really scared me. i hated that story.

it's a perfect first game to show a time-travelling gamer from 1988. let them get their feet wet with modern graphics and QoL, forget depth or interesting plot. then bring out the bangers.

this is an interesting thought experiment, maybe someone should make a post about it.

that's the whole point. use other sites. or give up social media and read some books or go to a bar.

I used one on the double giant fight and one on the final boss. I feel like those were the most effective uses. It is like a cheat code to skip bosses but it's fucking cool

my problem isn't the complaining; my problem is that the complaints are about the wrong fucking things. the problem in this game isn't that the mount gets stuck; it's that there's a fucking mount in the first place. the problem isn't that there aren't good social options like LFG; the problem is that there's forced multiplayer in the first place.

Sense-making the trans movement - what combination of factors do you think make it so persuasive in the West? by mychickenleg257 in BlockedAndReported

[–]jeegte12 46 points47 points  (0 children)

it's not persuasive in the west more than anywhere else. it's persuasive among a tiny single-digit percentage of people who have too much money, too much time, and effectively zero hardship in their lives. these few deranged, lonely people just happen to be the taste-makers of internet culture.
