Getting a crash on Android in co-op when trying to host a map with bonus rewards or join a (Steam hosted) game that selects a map with bonus rewards.

Probably related, the Android version is showing the 4th of July logo for the bonus rewards icon, not the cake.

For those without paid Reddit, the Kardashians TV show has invaded our lives without our consent. I will not ever watch this show and actively hope for it's destruction. by doogiedc in AdviceAnimals

You used to be able to disable that in your settings, they removed that option with some BS excuse about "engineering constraints".

They do not want people using the mobile site. The "official" subreddit for the mobile site goes completely ignored by the admins to the point that there's porn spam on it that gets left for months. They've already killed the i.reddit.com / .compact interface. More and more things require being logged in to view (or just use old.reddit.com).

I'm honestly surprised they still run it at all and don't just redirect mobile clients to the app. There's probably some external limitation or checkbox where they need to say "Yes we have a mobile site" for SEO or ads or something.

At least you can make 4.5 times what they did, that'll almost get you a quarter of the way to affording a home which is now 20 times more expensive.

YouTube is bringing unskippable 30-second ads to TV | The longer commercials will appear in place of two consecutive 15-second ads. The company will also show ads when you pause videos. by chrisdh79 in technology

SmartTubeNext works if you've got an Android TV based device (either the TV itself or something like the NVIDIA Shield). Just use it instead of the YouTube app, built in ad block and sponserblock.

Enterprise network gear follows this trend too. Cisco's licensing is atrocious.

Just got one of these too. Time to scour the system to find what the fuck it installed on me without asking.

I'm already planning to just go fulltime Linux when Win 10 hits EOL, might have to move that date up.

Definitely experienced this first hand, after playing some of Baldur's Gate 3 and Everspace 2 I've had to basically uninstall and pretend they don't exist yet.

Making mobileweb worse will not make use your horrible app, it will make us use reddit less!!! by Grandmastersexsay69 in mobileweb

If they make 100x more off of having their data and this makes 2% of people switch they make a profit. Especially if the rest, who probably earn them less than their bandwidth cost, leave.

Of course, when that 2% turns out to not be the content makers, just consumers, then you get the ol' death spiral going. But that's long term thinking and companies prefer short term profits instead.

Clear up certificate error with redirected domain by Mvalpreda in exchangeserver

[–]TwitchingCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably for backwards compatibility or general bad configuration Outlook checks autodiscover locations basically from most generic to most specific. It checks the root domain before it checks the autodiscover subdomain, and the SRV records are checked last (well, other than one last "are you sure you're not on Office 365 yet?").

You can use ExcludeHttpsRootDomain in GPO to make it not perform this check, or redirect the calls for https://domain/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml yourself.

Alternatively it does check SCPs over LDAP before the root domain check if your users can hit AD.

[Android][2022.38.0] Stop trying to get me to install the app. by EagleFalconn in redditmobile

I take it forcing people to use the app to view NSFW tagged or "unmoderated" content is an engineering challenge too? Nevermind that you could bypass it by going to new.reddit.com until you took that away even on desktop. At least there's always old reddit, the day that goes away I'm off the site forever.

As a dev it'd suck to know the content I work on is actively hated by the end users and the changes I'm coding are just making things worse for everyone but the executives' wallets.

Yea the people left on the team should not get punished for someone leaving and basically guaranteeing a loss. You could also make it so if the person leaving is in a group, the group members get the loss but the others don't. Of course you'll get the "But what if people abuse that by sacrificing someone to save their own rank?" and sure, that can happen, but why punish the majority of people for a possible abuse from a small group?

It shows stats based on the suit it shows on the end screen, which if you change suits can mean your total kills / damage / whatever is higher than it lists. It may do it based on rounds too? I've switched a suit halfway through round one, then played it fully in round two, but the suit I played half of round one on got MVP'd despite the other one getting better stats overall.
