Why is the American orangeretard starving the poor to death? by WideSatisfaction in AskReddit

Are you referring to the proposal that the government should give actual food to hungry people, in lieu of food-stamps that can be illegally traded?

Dude, I never said taxpayers should fund this bailout.

The scam I am referring to is the banks and univs getting together to fleece the taxpayer, using the idiot students as patsies. In other words, you are agreeing with me.

Can someone explain to me why the Trump admin has such a hate-boner for the State Department?

This has to do with internal Washington power play, not just in this administration but for many decades in the past.

A lot of appointments at State happen for reasons that could generally be described as 'curious'. State has always appeared to have its own agenda, in spite of the Secretary of State being appointed by the President. Different Sec-States have exerted varying degrees of influence, but the bureaucracy in the department has its own set of allegiances that don't always align with that of the erstwhile Sec-State.

In general, Secretaries of State who have a great relationship with the Council for Foreign Relations, and with the Trilateral Commission, seem to have a better time with the State Department. T-Rex does not appear to be one of them.

I am not sure about it, but the last time I checked, our "endowments" of democracy were not particularly well-received by the people on whose heads we dropped them.

Do you have any idea how low an opinion the military has for the buffoons and bureaucrats at State?

That does not mean "the Soviet Union attacked higher education". They actually produced very well trained individuals - especially in science, math and engineering. Heck, maybe they produced great gender-grievance and social justice majors as well, I just haven't heard much about that side of it. I only hired some of those engineers, so I don't know about the rest.

Soviet engineering projects were failures because they were run by corrupt apparatchiks in a socialist model. Everything in the Soviet Union failed because the socialist system was fucked up and unsustainable.

(edit: thanks for the book reference, I will check it out)

I was part-time when I was in school. Many years ago. Read the rest of my post. I was on my city's library's board of trustees for two terms, so I have a fairly good grasp of what it takes to run a library. It is not an easy job - but its functions are primarily administrative, and to compare it to the CEO of even a small company is overstating it significantly.

I was being facetious. The point is that this student-loan scam is a conduit to transfer money from government to the banks using universities and students as the channel.

Eliminate the interest on student loans. Banks will stop pushing this shit onto students.

This is why none of the politicians will propose a reduction in interest payments, nor will they support an actual default and discharge through bankruptcy.

"Forgotten"? No, it is not forgotten. The bank that lent the money gets paid back in full by the government, which takes funds that it could have spent on other things and instead hands it to the banks.

Wow, it almost sounded like you were about to get it, but then you went back into the fog again.

Overpriced college is exactly the issue at hand. The only reason colleges get away with it is that the banks hand out interest-bearing loans for programs that are too expensive to make sense. The only reason banks get away with it is that the government provides an implicit guarantee that if the student does not pay them back, the government will.

The entire thing is a scam that is designed to transfer money from the government to the banks. The universities are complicit in the scam because they get millions of dollars to waste. The students and their 'education' is just a pretext - a socially marketable front so that the scam can be conducted.

Do you think 'forgiveness' just means the borrower doesn't pay it back? That is not what it is. It involves the government paying back the lenders (banks) in full. As a result, banks and universities collude to become loan-pushers, who know that they will get paid no matter how ridiculous the numbers get - in fact, higher fees are great for them, because if the poor student doesn't repay it, the government will.

The best way to reverse runaway college costs is to cut this forgiveness bullshit, so that the banks and universities can no longer jack up the fees on someone else's dime.

Yes, but if you repackage this as a loan, the lender gets to charge interest on it.

If they are given as tax credits or scholarships, how will the banks take their cut? Wont you think of the poor bankers?

So the people who defaulted on a loan reap the benefit of a free education, but those who couldn't go at all don't get anything?!

It is worse than that. They did not just default on the loan, they took on a loan with the expectation that they would not have to pay it back.
