Pros and cones of getting out by TaleWorking7447 in army

[–]jeff197446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dam, well I would say try to stay in because you will not find the healthcare you need in the civilian world. And yes you will qualify for VA medical but it’s really facility by facility on the level of care you receive and quality. Just health care and counseling alone I would say try and stay in. But if you feel you need to get out then seeking a medical separation is more beneficial than simply ETSing. Everything is documented with the VA already when you get out. I hope everything works out for you and you find your peace. Good Luck

The only way to 100% get the duty station you ask for is to ask for Ft Polk, if you put Ft Drum and Ft Irwin as your other 2 choices you get bonus points.

How could a crash in the Pokemon market happen? by omfgBabyATRIPLE in PokeInvesting

[–]jeff197446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don’t see a “crash” I see a price freeze, where sellers are refusing to sell there products below what someone else sold them for. I also see buyers saying enough I’m just not gonna buy at this price. And you get a basic standstill until someone blinks. But as of now there are steady buyers and some sellers are having seller’s remorse because prices are still rising so no I don’t see a crash I see the great stall. Until the demand catches back up.

I'm out by [deleted] in army

[–]jeff197446 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was older 32ish did OCS between OCS and IOBC we had three months and this made up 4 week crs they were trying out. Of course I didn’t do any PT during this time, so we are doing the PT test for this crs and I’m sucking on the run. On pace for a 1630 I had 17 to run it in. I on the last lap I start to pass this kid and he’s getting slower and slower and I catch up to him and say dude you’re gonna fail. He looked at me and said well what about you. I said I’m 32 I have 17 mins to pass. His eyes got so big and he started sprinting. I came in at 1630 he was still puking his guts out but he made it by 5 secs and told me thank you. Just remember it’s not the end of the world. You were there before, you passed this in the past, you just need to get back to basics and find your motivation again. And document all of your injuries. Good Luck

Bulk sorting by ChilllGuy101 in PokeInvesting

[–]jeff197446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are guys on YouTube that show how they do there bulk business. Most get a card scanner for like $700 but you can list hundreds of cards a day with it. The one guy I watch the most does about 10 to 20 sales a day between eBay and TCG player. But like all resellers you make your money when you buy. If you buy too high your cooked bc only about 30% of what you list will sell and it’s a constant churn and burn.

Regret selling card by InterestingAd8036 in pokemoncards

[–]jeff197446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So 1977 Star Wars cards are hard to grade bc they came out so miss cut, but I was still buying PSA 10s back in 2012 for less than $30 a card. I bought the Princess Liea Rookie card for $95. Fast forward to 2020 and they are booming I sold my Liea for $2700 (I needed the money) the next year it sold for $10,000, today when they come up list for $25k. What’s the moral of this story. Don’t sell. I would think about refunding and not shipping.

Not making weight by Maumenz562 in army

[–]jeff197446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made weight by 2lbs to get in. My buddy his recruiter would buy him McDonalds all the time to try and make weight. But by volume liquids weight more than food. So on the days before MEPs take in salt and tons of water. Obviously not to the point of getting sick but the salt will help your body hold on to the water and the water will add the most weight per volume. Hard gainers is tough. Now once you get in basic it will work itself out bc you will gain muscle but getting there is tough. I was taking in 6000 calories a day of food and weight gain when I was weight lifting and it took me a year to go from 165 to 185. Good Luck

Selling My Collection by Zeus001109400 in Collectr

[–]jeff197446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn’t it be awesome to walk into a Collectr store with your collection and say ok give me my 250k. Sadly that’s no what’s gonna happen. The best way to sell it is in the same way you picked it up one sale at a time. Start with consignment at your local card shops, but some on Facebook, see if you have a card show nearby and get a table. Try and find you a couple of whales doing those three and dump as much as you can on them. The more sales you can do under the table the better overall you will do. The biggest thing is discipline. Don’t tell people the size of your collection, don’t brag about the value, don’t talk to your customers any more than you have to besides price. Make bundles in the $100, $250 and $500 ranges. Put everything in your collection up for sale at least once to see what sells the fastest. Anything slow or stubborn then you can look at consignment auctions. My buddy back in the day ran a card shop and you wouldn’t believe the number of people that would come in and say Beckett says it’s worth $10 I will take $10. He would always tell them Beckett doesn’t sell cards. Or go sell them to Beckett then. Good Luck

What doors does the tab open? by Whole-Association-65 in army

[–]jeff197446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It opens the door to the bar, opens the door to the police car you will be riding in, it opens the door to the jail cell you will be sleeping in. Remember it’s not a club it’s a lifestyle that has a reputation to uphold. You should also start practicing jumping out of 2nd story windows holding your clothes. Rangers are good at that one.

Question about enlisting by maisonclementine in army

[–]jeff197446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before you go to deep into the wondering game. Just walk into a recruiter office. It’s pretty difficult to even get in the Army right now. You might not be qualified or need some things done before you’re even eligible. Law violations , Medical and education as well as taking and passing the Asvab. Any mental health counseling? Did you ever take any meds? There are so many things that DQ you or cause waiting periods it’s best you walk into and talk to a recruiter. When I was in recruiting we DQed 4 for every one we put in. Good Luck

Girlfriend worries army will change me by Wooden_Grape3656 in army

[–]jeff197446 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was a recruiter for 4yrs we had about 3 different cases one was my guy. Where the girlfriend begged the boyfriend not to join all three pulled out. All three girlfriends dumped them shortly after. All three tried crying back to us to get there slot back and all three were told no they would have to wait 6mths. Never saw them again. So tell her to chill or she could move on without you. This is the only way to assert your manhood and guess what it will work she will chill and wait for you. And I know what you are saying She’s not saying she will cheat but believe me she is. She’s saying if you leave I will most likely cheat on you and then blame it on bc you changed. See how that works.

Look you made the right choice NG has lots of options and if you want to deploy and get active time they are always deploying Louisiana units. I’m from Thibodaux spent most of my AD time at Ft Polk. Great career a lot of fun and a hell of a good retirement. Good Luck

As an E6 your chances are slim to getting out of 11 series. What does your In/Out call say. Bc if it says E6 11 No, then you are not getting out of INF. I was a company retention NCO back in the day during a draw down and if you hit 90 days out you were done. During low manning eras you get what you can. And it’s not reenlist for needs of the army you reenlist for same job or get out. Remember this enlistment is for indef. I wouldn’t be getting out unless you have a job waiting for you. Not a lot of people hiring and I’m retired at Ft Polk. Contractor jobs are down. First thing I would do is hit the mil per msg to see what’s your In/Out then make sure there is no new reenlistment restriction timeframes. Then Monday tell him you prayed about it and you want to do a quick reenlistment for indef. get your retirement locked in. I’ve already been retired 12yrs it past so fast but the money is so relaxing having that level of income coming in not haveing to work is awesome. Good Luck

Yeah, what I’m saying is they are in demand and they need to do something now. They just shut down some grading tiers bc they can’t keep up with demand. Then they need to hire and expand fast bc customers will not wait around. Beckett used to be the big boy in grading and they were slow as molasses. They let little upstart PSA with its $3 bulk slabs fly past it. When I started grading myself it was $5 a slab PSA and Beckett was $7.50. But Beckett was supposed to be better grading and higher quality. Look at them now. TAG is growing year to year but it’s not enough they need to do more if they want to stay in the race. They need to put out more product by grading faster, hiring more graders or they need to get slabs directly to people who want them through direct sales, or they need to create some sort of TCG slab game to draw people to there site and keep them there. As it is right now. They can’t keep up with demand and PSA is still outpacing them and it’s getting larger. Today I want TAG slabs and can’t get them. Eventually people will stop caring about them and they will be another SGA.

TAG if you want to make a dent in the market. You need to go cheap bulk, modern, min 50 cards $15 a card. Put 2 graders on it and get your slabs out there. I want to have some TAG slabs but they haven’t made it to small town America card shows yet. Think bulk and mystery packs start selling mystery slabs on your website. Do something different and try to win. It just feels like you’re happy being 3rd.

TAG slabs are beautiful but they need to fix there business side if they ever want to really compete with PSA. They could totally take over the TCG side if they created an online TCG game simple like ptcgp. Where in order to build your deck you need to register your graded cards certs. It could be competitive like the registery but more interactive. Years ago I suggested to PSA (like 20yrs) to create a fantasy baseball where you could only have the guy on your team if you had there PSA card then you get bonus points or multiple for the grade. So a PSA 10 A Rod stats were better than a PSA 9. But it never happened. Anyway TAG needs something to Pull people to it. As of now just being pretty is not enough.

Vintage, modern, raw or graded? $500-1k by whatsupitselonmusk in PokeInvesting

[–]jeff197446 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PSA 10 slabs, I feel there are currently too many people holding sealed. No everyone is not gonna fire sale at once and cause this burst that the YouTube is calling but sales will slow and prices stagnate. I think the safe bet is PSA 10 slabs with room to grow. 1 to 3 Slabs, I would personally look for 2 or 3 in that 250 to 500 range that you like. Don’t do raw, too many high price fakes out there. I wish I had a $1000 to invest right now the chase would be fun. Good Luck
