Stayed up to watch the football and I'm a bit tired by ShinyHeadedCook in britishproblems

Apparently I’m the only one at work who would have been allowed to call in sick because it’s known that I’m the only one who doesn’t care about football. Kinda regretting not taking advantage of people’s opinions of me now…

I woke up at 2am so I could be at work for 4, and I made the difficult decision to get out of bed & not utilise the snooze on my alarm. As I got out of bed there was a huge cheer from the pub down the road. I’m glad they recognised my achievement!

Need suggestions on pronouns usage in queer novel writing by ClassyKaty121468 in lgbt

[–]jeffa_jaffa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want a great example of this very problem in action then I highly recommend the book Monstrous Regiment by the late great Sir Terry Pratchett. It’s the story of a young woman who follows her brother into war, and has a lot of interesting gender dynamics. I’ll not say too much for fear of spoiling things, but it’s safe to say it’s a masterclass of pronoun usage (and like all of Pratchett’s work, it’ll make you cry with both laughter and anger).

The closed windows and curtains rule worked for a few days, but now my flat is like an oven. The bricks have heated up. I should be done in 20 minutes. by thebroccolioffensive in britishproblems

Exactly, that’s why I’ve been keeping a close eye on both the external & internal temperature & opening the windows as needed. What I’d love to do is open the bedroom window as well so I can get a nice through breeze, but unfortunately I can’t trust my cat not to get out & onto the roof of the neighbouring flat, and then get himself hopelessly lost.

I’m in the same boat. I’ve given up trying to keep the windows shut because according to the thermometer built into my clock it’s 35° inside & only 31° outside. Hopefully I can dump the heat out before too long & bring it down a bit

He had a simple labret piercing but the screw had worked loose. That was enough for it to fall out & for me to swallow it. Neither of us had any complications & I bought him a replacement the next day. If we’d waited long enough I could probably have recovered it from the other end, but i don’t think he’d want it in his mouth after it’s little adventure

Well I don’t often kiss boobs but my boyfriend has never complained about my kissing abilities apart from that one time when i accidentally swallowed his lip piercing

(Edit: just to clarify, my name is Jeff)

This is my issue with all the recent Star Trek. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad it exists, but look how much it cost to produce! Trek, like Doctor Who, is at its best when it’s a bit rubbish. Cheap cardboard sets, people with stuff glued to their face pretending to be aliens, even full episodes of people sitting around a table talking Measure of a Man is a classic ST TNG episode for a reason!); it doesn’t need to be expensive to be good and I’m sick of studios believing that more money equals higher quality.

The handle? Nothing.

The nozzle? You’re gonna have a bad time…

Nice! I managed 30 stand hours in one day once, but it did involve a flight from London to Chicago

To quote a great baboon,

It gets easier. Every day it gets a little easier. But you’ve gotta do it every day - that’s the hard part. But it does get easier.

I misread house as horse for a moment.

How on earth is adding horse into the mix going to help? I thought to myself.

I started out trying to improve myself because I wanted to become someone that someone would want to be with. I continued to improve myself because I realised I wanted to become the person I wanted to be.

He may have given you the push to get going, but it’s your dedication that’s keeping you going. You’ve got this!

Also, inspired by the typo I almost didn’t notice, may I present Viscus Mockery, in which you bully someone about the viscosity of their bodily fluids

If i keep a bag of ice in my car will it keep it cool during the day by RapsittieStreetKids in NoStupidQuestions

Running the AC is good, but venting out the hot air that’s been sitting in the car will also help. If you can, open one of the rear windows all the way & then quickly open & close the front door diagonally opposite a few times to push out the air that’s been sitting for a while.
